Billy was on the radio a month or so ago and refused any comment on Vanloo. Response to the question - reasked by a later caller - was pretty glib.

Since she was a 2011 signee and not a 2012 signee, I believe he is not allowed to talk about her until she is on campus.

Other random things: Since she is currently at a 4-year institution, she is not eligible to sign an LOI for 2012. I believe her university in Belgium doesn't have intercollegiate athletics, so she would not have to redshirt a year after transferring.

I think ISU as a whole should stop taking chances on kids overseas. It almost never seems to work out in the end.

I am confident of Vanloo's arrival before the end of July. Any willing student that qualifies, is up to Big Twelve talent and we want them, I don't see any problem pursuing such international talent. Fennelly knows he'd be remiss to pass on top international talent and Vanloo fits that category.

Using twelve schollies by my count, we have one walk-on next year. Do we sign a Freshman WBB recruit during April-May period? I doubt it. And even transfers seem pretty late in the year especially one that could contribute to give the regulars a rest. So we may be set.

Next season with Brynn coming on and the scoring capabilities of the incoming recruits, I see more offense (more attempts at scoring). We will need to develop some quality defender to replace Cole (where too Brynn seems to be on track).

It will be Poppens' team next year and I think we will be more competitive next season, maybe big time. With defense and I believe a sped-up offense we will see more Moody style pushes inside rather than slow, occasionally telegraphed, set-ups.

Bumping this old message to see if there are any updates. Do we know one way or the other? If this is dead not to be brought up again, just say so. If still possible, this one has been very quiet on here.

haven't heard for sure, but latest we heard was she was still deciding between going pro in Europe(lucrative offer in hand) or coming to ISU(was told was cleared by NCAA but don't know if a fact), and that she was leaning heavily to playing in Europe at this time.

Take the money, it's the easy way out. Ask Lucca. That doesn't go very far. Never playing against, what most people call the best player in college basketball? I hate the build-up of this thing. I get the sense that she never wanted to play in the states, anyway. As fans we should move on.

Too bad if she doesn't show up. I felt that BF really had it set up for at least 3
years in the front court with Nikki, Emiah, Kidd, and Vanloo.

Not too mention Williamson and Buckley. Right now, looks like our guard court even without Vanloo is pretty good, though I would like to see another wing with size.

It is our post situation that I have ???? about after this year. Pop and Anna will be very hard to replace.

I figured Williamson at the three, but totally forgot Buckley. Hopefully the bigs will come in the upcoming class.

If she never wanted to play in the states, she would have taken a pro contract last year instead of spending a year at university in Belgium.

I thought the same thing - but so little is allowed to be said officially, or available online, that we have no idea what is happening.

We will know in a month or more but I am set on seeing her in uniform.

No Vanloo 2012

Posted on another board that Vanloo has indeed signed a pro contract with Spain so we can close this thread pretty soon. The OP on the other board posts here sometimes also, so maybe he will post any details here.

If that's true (and I'm guessing it is) then at least we have plenty of good guards who can play point: Moody, Bingley, and Kidd (plus Buckley in 2013). It would have been nice to have more backcourt depth, but we'll live.
