This is a team with a new head coach. One who has been very successful at other levels and is doing a major rebuild. Valpo is 0-2 on the new season and will likely struggle this year as they’ve loss both by an average of 34 points. So far, they’ve been prone to giving up big runs and digging holes. They are led by Fiona Connolly who is averaging 15 per game. They aren’t afraid to chuck up threes with only Allia von Schlegell having a decent make percentage. Expect more of that tonight. Their defense appears to be sketchy at best as they are giving up nearly double the number of their own baskets made (yes that is also because of their bad offense) as they make about 18 per game while giving up 34. They are giving up nearly THIRTY turnovers per game. I suspect our pressure defense will ensure that number continues. Don’t expect this one to be remotely close, but thats why they play the games.

If they can avoid a million turnovers and giving up huge runs to the Cyclones maybe they can keep it close for a half.

It's Jada days till we play a maybe decent team.

So what you're saying is that I won't miss much while sitting at my kiddos dance class tonight. Cool with me.

I'll be glad when we play better teams. Its coming.
Nov 20th at Drake has my interest, we've taken some pretty good teams in there and came out with a loss. If we can lead that start to finish and get out with a double digit win, I'd be feeling pretty good. UNI is in Hilton this yr so not to worried. Iowa in Hilton will be interesting.

Only good thing about these early season games is you can leave with around 3 minutes left and get out of the lot before most of the crowd. Nice way to spend your Wednesday night.

Speaking of Drake, it's kind of crazy they share a conference with Valpo. The MVC spans over 250 ranking spots.

UNI is also god awful so that one shouldn't be any more interesting.

Her recruiting has fallen off a cliff and they're slow and tiny. It's a bad roster for a coach that's done nothing but underachieve for the last decade and now the talent is gone. Better than Valpo but not by much.

Connolly is a senior who spent 2 years at LaSalle coming off the bench and is in her second year at Valpo. Prior to this year she hadn't scored more than 10 points in any of her 87 career games (she's scored 12 and 19). She's a career 25% 3pt shooter. Also - she's an Aussie who went to prep school at the Cyclone favorite Brewster Academy!

Last time I road tripped up there the point guard from the metro basically beat us herself. Maya(?) Someone good player.
@UNI has never been easy for ISU the fans and staff at the McCloud center are always good. The staff really appreciate a full house.

Maya McDermott went off for 37 points against us. Couldn't freaking miss.
