US vs Honduras - World Cup Qualifying

Things GGG should learn from tonight. Tyler Adams is wasted as a right wingback/RB. James Sands is not a center midfielder. If you’re going to use him it’s as a CB in a back 3.

I was super critical of the team for the first two matches, but credit where it's due. The 2nd Half looked like they finally realized this is World Cup Qualifying time. That's a great result as getting 3 points @ Honduras is no easy task.

May the gods bless Matt Turner. He has saved our ass from shoddy defensive positioning way too many times throughout the recent Gold Cup matches and these first few WC qualifiers.

With that said, a dub is a dub and we racked up some help in goal differential.

I only got a chance to catch the second half last night. After reading this thread, I don't think I want to go back and see what I missed.

My main takeaway is that USMNT have to get to these countries and think "where in the actual **** am I?"

Coming in this morning and reading this thread was fun. Mimic's what was going on on Twitter during the game as well.

That first half was some of the most uninspired football I've seen in a while. Honduras was clearly the aggressor the entire first 45 minutes.. the only time I felt comfortable in that funky formation was when we were playing keep away to try and slow them down some, those were the only times we got a couple of good runs. I've said it before, but I am not a fan of Sargent starting. Dude seems to always be there but never does anything well enough with it when he is in threatening positions. I'm happy to hear why if others think he is the guy, but I would much rather him be a reserve. Only positive from him last night was his effort to head that ball back towards Pepi.
I also think the boys did not have their touch down on that surface at all, you could tell they'd drop balls off that would usually be a simple pass, but ended up 4 yards short.. or were worried it wouldn't get there so they tried to kill a through ball and it goes out of bounds.

2nd half was awesome.
Pepi was as good as you can hope for in a starting debut. Every sub came in with energy, and the adjustment to the 4-3-3 was clearly a huge shift in the way the 2nd half was played. Berhalter needed that half BAD.

Wouldn't have been the end of the world if we would have snuck out 1 point, but 3 points and a+3 goal diff is a huge way to end out this first window. Here's to all our guys coming back healthy

What the hell happened to John Brooks? He was horrible the last two games. I liked the Zimmerman, Sands, Robinson back line from the Gold Cup much better
Sands was a little out of sorts in the first too, imo. Picked it up in the second half though. But yeah, Brooks has not looked sharp At All. Their goal was so wide open because of the decision he made to come to a ball he had no chance of getting, then jogging back as he watched his man run free.
