Flat bill cap 100% dumb forever. Even as it was happening it was horrible. This upside down letters thing isn’t even 1% as bad.

Same for the giant sized basketball shorts late 90s. Dumbest thing ever.
I don't know. I absolutely hate the flat bill hat, but it's a style choice so I'm more willing to admit that I'm an old man yelling at cloud with that one. Upside down text isn't a style, it's just a dumb gimmick.

Sometimes the current style is objectively laughable and not at all timeless.

Marketing 101. When the idiot of your hat shop village feeds the hats into the machine wrong and you print 25,000 upside down hats, you can either reprint and blow your margin or you get slick from sales to invent a fashion trend.

I say "and it'll happen to YOU!" to my kids all the time. And they are 30 and 33.

The only thing more fun is using slang that's even younger than they are, but using it incorrectly. Knocking out a non sequitur "bussin" or "no cap"... it just sparks joy when their heads try to explode.

Mid 40s here and I still wear my hats backwards. Mostly because I don’t love my hair and most hats give me a headache when worn correctly after a couple of hours. I should look into better options as I’ve been feeling a little silly about it for a while. Thanks for the reinforcement.
No shaming meant, lol......and doesn't sound like you are aiming to be "cool" and are just wearing it. I mean, I feel at this age the "newsies" hat some embrace, but equally douchy if not the right vibe.

Not to bring in the KXNO thread, but I think the "hat backwards/flat bill" style of like Sean Roberts...he's totally a great radio guy, but I feel at some point you are no longer "young and hip"...doesn't mean you can't be hip in other ways, but I feel both hat styles scream "beer league softball legend" or "Uncle Rico" cool vibes.

For all of the silly slang being used by Gen A the term fanum tax is useful. There should have been a name for this action long ago.

As a general rule athletic/sports wear is rarely conventionally stylistic and has trends that push farther. Partially because its generally marketed to people that aren't particularly stylish, often want things that are the current trend so they stay fresh/fit in, and/or skew on the younger side. The best example I can give are Nike Dunks. They aren't particularly astatically pleasing when looked at objectively, but are almost ubiquitous currently among people in the athletic/sports wear demographic (athletes, sports fans, young people, etc). It kind of goes back to the old phrase, the customer is always right in matters of taste.

I am team flat bill. We don't hate team over-curved bill (sorry Matt Campbell) but we don't embrace them either.

I converted from TCB to TFB in my late 30s. Not trying to be hip at all. Bought a hat at a minor league game once that was FB without realizing it. The comfort of not pushing down on my sunglasses won me over. My eyes don't love sunshine so I wear sunglasses outdoors almost all the time, even with its cloudy. So, FB was a practical choice for me. I don't hate on anyone for their fashion choices, anyway. To each their own.

Curved bill consortium will allow this since you made the change for functional purposes knowing it looks really stupid.

Don’t listen to the Big Curved Bill Hat mafia like @HFCS, he’s just jealous he can’t pull off the flat bill like like we can.

I have a big tent hat platform. All hats of any type and size (even the dumb huge ones) are welcome.

"pulling it off" vs a normal hat, same human in both pics so we have a scientific study.

I feel like this evidence is irrefutable.

BUT...if the top look is somehow more comfortable in spite of looking silly, go for it.
