UNI vs. Illinois State

Do you consider South Carolina a bad loss? I do, their RPI may be in the 90s but that doesn't mean as a top 15 RPI team we shouldn't have crushed them.

At the time of the loss I certainly did, but I don't think they're necessarily a bad team, and if their RPI is in the 90's I think that takes some of the stink out of it.

IMO, and this is just me, both wins and to a lesser degree losses against the RPI 100-150 are kind of "meh" to me. The wins are expected and no big deal, and while you never want to lose a game a loss to a team in this range isn't necessarily a season killer, unless you're squarely on the bubble. Thankfully both UNI and ISU are in positions where their bad losses aren't going to be the proverbial nail in the coffin, although that horrendous loss at Tech is one of the reasons why Kansas won the Big 12 again...grr....

What is there to settle? Why can't we just say the state has more than one good team and call it good?

I don't think it's about hating on UNI anyway. UNI played a weak schedule and was in a weak conference but had a stellar season. They completely deserve to have their shot to prove the belong with the big boys. At this point it is just whether people believe they will prove themselves or not. It's nothing but opinion whether you think they are for real or not. I have no clue myself, they could pull a 2010 Farokmanesh in the tournament or they could lose to a Georgia State, Arkansas, or Wofford. Who knows?

We will know for sure in just a couple weeks, but until then people can debate whether an instate school is as good as their record shows or are a just an untested team who feasted on cupcakes. Free Country. Merica.

How can anyone watch this and say MVC basketball is legit? This is some ugly basketball by UNI right now.

I agree, it's kind of like ISU vs OSU in Ames, early this year, or Texas Tech.
