I said before the game I felt good about this one. I just made one mistake. I went to a local college game (where I taught for 20 years) to watch our 21st ranked men's team. I won't make that mistake again. Thank goodness for the Sisters!

Nice write-up and analysis, as always. I missed the game, but I'll make it to UCF when the Sisters are back home.

I'm way behind here, but what is the story with Freya Jensen? We havven't seen her since Oklahoma State.

Jensen is just VERY raw. That’s about all one can say. Definitely plays with energy, but has a lot to learn.

At one point of the game I asked the rhetorical question of, "How many rebounds does Syd have in this game?" After a moment I answered myself, "All of them."
The crazy thing is…you don’t realize she’s grabbing everything…at least I didn’t. Then I look at the stats and go, “ holy cow!” The team as a whole rebounded quite strongly last night, led by Syd’s efforts.

Seriously though, if Syd can embrace what a difference she can make using her size to battle for boards down low she can be a difference maker even on nights where she isn't filling it up from deep.

I asked that question because every time I noticed she was grabbing still another board. I knew she must be having a career night on the glass. I hope this makes her realize that her size can be an asset there and she can make a difference there if she puts her mind to it.

This was the first game this season where she has grabbed more than 4 boards. We know she can be better there because her post season last year was games of 6, 5, 7, and 4 boards. We need that Syd, especially with Addy out.

In watching the game it seemed to me that all the 3's made by Tech were not on Harris. With her at the 4 they seemed to be keeping her closer to the basket to help with rebounding, a calculated risk.
I hate to see unguarded 3's but I am not found of being out quicked inside either.
Great win for the Sisters. Like the better movement on offense, at least most of the time.

Without rewatching the game all I remember is it always seemed like it was Syd running out to try and get a hand in the face of whoever was shooting that three. Def could have been someone else’s responsibility!

Thanks. I was hoping that was it, as opposed to injury or she decided this was not for her. I sometimes wonder if foreign players would be advised to do a year at one of the "basketball high schools" or even start at a non power 4 school for a year or two. I can be an awful big jump.

Also keep in mind she had national team obligations during much of the summer, so she joined the team much later than everyone else. She does have an opportunity to make a big leap next year, although her big opportunity will be in two years when the current junior class is gone.

She seems to be really part of the team always cheering her team mates on.

Good points. Thanks.
