Or a poor throwing technique. No one throws over the top anymore. If anyone in the infield has the time to not sidearm their throw it's the 3B.

NO!!! I feel your frustration. The silver lining here is that the team is very unlikely to compete this year, so finding this out now and taking care of it should still set him up to at least debut, if not contribute significantly, sometime early on in the 2015 season. Of course, I worry that this will set his overall development back, especially since Minnesota is already so conservative/slow in getting their prospects up to the MLB level.

I don't see how he makes it until 2016 now.

He's never played above AA and is going to sit an entire year? Yeah, goodbye '14 and '15.

I think the Twins needed to keep him from playing Winter Ball, but then maybe their contract would not allow that, or maybe they wanted him to do it.

I do think they may consider moving him to 1st. He has the size, and honestly, he has not been that impressive at third with fielding or with his arm. Mauer could play 3rd with a little work, and is probably a better athlete than Sano. It would not surprise me if that happens in the future.

Also the TJ surgery is much different for position players. I have read that Sano may be able to DH later in the season, although the Twins may not risk that.
