No one loved Troy more than me, but I hate when I hear that he was "the only thing we had". For example, we had two offensive linemen, Patrick Augafa and Tim Kohn who were all conference offensive linemen (2nd team) in 1996, Troy's last season as a Cyclone. I don't mean to cloud Troy's accomplishments as his yards after contact were outstanding, but let's not diminish the accomplishments of the other great Cyclones either.
It would probably be more accurate to say the running game was all that we had. That O-line was a great run blocking line and Troy probably should have taken them out to dinner every Sunday night. If you look at the passing game there was really only just enough to keep the D honest, and probably not even that. They had 1500 yards passing on the season (137 ave) with 13 TDs and 11 Ints. And the defense? They gave up over 480 yards and 38+ points before every team in the conference was running a spread offense.

Refresh my memory: Was Todd Doxson still QB that year, or is that when he switched to receiver and Bandy took over?
Doxson. Bandhauer contributed 3 for 7 passing, 1 TD and 1 INT.

I love TD threads!! I believe he is still the only sophomore to run for 2000 yds AND the only player to get 2000 twice.
Pretty sure it was 3 years - his initial contract. I got to see him in Minnesota once. Really wish he would have stuck longer.

Don't forget Ed Williams at WR. And then, of course, Darren Davis was a freshman when Troy was a junior. And we had an 8th string kicker named Duke Perfect!
Wasn't Bandhauer the one that mac blew his redshirt to throw a hail mary pass at the end of a half?
There were something like 9 of the guys on offense that played some sort of professional football, NFL, CFL, Areana.
