Troy Davis in the lots

It's too bad their younger brother never had the grades to play at ISU. Their older brother played at a small school in Iowa and was an All-American. One year they had two RB's make the All-American team, Eddie Davis and a friend of mine who was a freshman. Whatever school it was, it closed down or something and my friend transferred to a small school in Minnesota.

I hope the crowd gives Troy and Darren a standing ovation next weekend.

I don't think there is any question about that. I think he was the probably the most responsible for bringing fans back to Jack Trice Stadium. After the Criner Walden years.

I introduced myself to the recruit. Asked his name it was Stokes, I said oh your the dude that broke the backboard bring that to Hilton was fun to see Georges and Coach Prohm

First read this as 'I asked him if he was Stokes' and I figured if he wasn't, that's probably a lost recruit. :)

Did Coach Mac get a nice ovation? Didn't see much on it.

I was there last year when Fizer and Stacey Frese were introduced at halftime and it felt like no one hardly batted an eye vs. what I thought they'd get.

Unfortunately it was right at the start of halftime so a lot of people were in the concourses and not in their seats but everyone in their seats seemed to get up and make some noise. It looked like a pretty emotional moment for him to be back.

If the Davis bros are walking the lots next week like this it would be worth a trip to Ames for me. Still remember the pure joy of watching Troy run all over Missouri that afternoon. Special day in the stand s for me.

People were standing and cheering while they were still reading his introduction. Had by far the best reception. I was pretty pumped for Megan Taylor, Mark Diab, Reg Wicks, and Jamaal, even though he wasn't there.

I can understand them wanted to honor Troy on his own and/or keep the hall of fame separate. But I wish they would have done something last week. My dad might be in the field Saturday and he would have liked to see him.

Troy was so much fun to watch.

Seneca was busy on most weekends until a couple years ago...

NFL teams have bye weeks. I think if they had really wanted to get something pulled together they could have. IMO it's more that there just hasn't been much of an effort to keep former players involved with the program.

Or because most of our teams were bad enough that they wanted to forget their years here. #jimlad

#sorta;)

Well I remember an article a couple years ago where Troy said something to that effect. Something about him wishing he would get invited to a game.

I remember watching Darren layout a big Texas A&M linebacker on a blitz. The guy was coming full speed.. I imagine hitting either Troy or Darren must have felt like hitting a granite statue. Those boys were (are) tough.

Hey! I see myself in the thumbnail! "Pizza Hut Fans of the Game!" lol

Troy and Darren Davis are two incredibly friendly guys. After the game got over I was walking back to my tailgate and I saw them standing and talking to other fans. Never having the opportunity to meet them before, I went and introduced myself and got a picture and an autograph. I get back to my tailgate and ten minutes later the Davis brothers were at our tailgate and we were drinking beers and eating burgers. I am only 22 so I never had the opportunity to see them play but it was fun to my dad and his friends and how excited that they got when they got to hang out with them. We talked with them for over two hours after the game. They gladly answered all of our questions. One cool thing was they could recall certain plays and stats from when they played. They truly love Iowa State and love taking pictures and signing autographs. Darren talked about his son, who is a highly touted sophomore running back down in Florida, and we asked if there was going to be another Davis running back at Iowa State? He said we would see. Great guys and they represent the university well. Wish that I would have had the opportunity to watch them play.

It was Westmar in Le Mars. I was middle school-ish when he played and watched him a few times.
