Declared worst #1 draft pick in Colts history per AP.

He played only three seasons, finishing his career with four sacks and one interception after going fifth overall. Memorable flare-up between Colts GM Bill Tobin and ESPN draft analyst Mel Kiper came after Kiper faulted Indianapolis for taking Alberts instead of QB Trent Dilfer, who started 113 games in 13 NFL seasons and helped lead Ravens to their first Super Bowl title following 2000 season.

He's doing a decent job at UNO,###### people off for dropping football and wrestling. But has them at Division 1 hockey and basketball, and built a new arena (Baxter) that both use.

Probably true. Tough metric though, I mean how many number one picks have they had? He sorta had a short career at least.

It's a stretch to say Dilfer "led" them to a Super Bowl...the Ravens defense led them to the Super Bowl...Dilfer just didn't screw it up.

I think he meant first round draft picks. He wasn’t even the first 1st round pick by the Colts that year. They picked Marshall Faulk with the second pick.

Also, Dilfer was terrible for being the first QB taken in a draft. made 1 Pro Bowl. Sure he lasted a long time, but the Ravens could have had a sack of potatoes at QB in 2000 and probably could have won the Super Bowl. He had 12 TDs and 11 INTs that year.

Did Joe Namath help lead his team to a Super Bowl? He threw 15 TDs and 17 INTs that year. Critics of Super Bowl Champion QBs like Dilfer, Eli (2), Plunkett (2) crack me up. "All he had to do was...", "Ravens could have had a sack of potatoes at QB." Clueless.

More on Namath: In his 13 seasons, in only 2 did he have more TDs than INTs. In his career: 173/220 and he's in the Hall of Fame.
