Transfer Portal Jammed

I wonder if they might not try to find a DE. Going from Bailey/Uwazarike to McDonald/Peterson is a pretty big step down. I love the way Will McDonald plays, but I feel like he'd lose a lot of his effectiveness if he were forced to play every down. We haven't seen much from Suttle that says that he's going to be ready.

Who in the transfer portal is anywhere near as good as McDonald/Peterson?

Wonder if either of them would come back?

Peterson, I'm sure there might be someone out there or at least someone who is good enough to rotate with him. McDonald, if there was a player that was big enough to take on OLs on first and second down, that would be a nice addition. I don't know that we'd want to double McDonald's snaps unless he puts on 20 lbs in the offseason.

CFB and CBB offseasons are going to be insane. Between the extra year of eligibility granted and guys committing to schools when they've never been in the same room as their coaches and teammates and have never stepped on campus, it's going to get wild. I'm really glad we are good, the next few years are going to be really on tough on teams like ISU pre Campbell. The g5 schools are going to be decimated.

Yeah, i had thought about this last summer when some of the initial new rules were being shared (extra eligibility, etc).

Then factors like how teams/departments will honor (or not honor) scholarships due to budgets, some players may wish to transfer for that one "last shot" at playing or a better situation, some will because their season was a "shell" of normal (like our guys generally got a full season, etc). And all of this, as another poster stated, is kind of a log jam of moving parts. I'd imagine internal chats have kinda happened (or will very soon) with the guys on the team to get their intent to graduate/not graduate, etc.

What? I'd call that even, if not a step up. And that is not a knock on Bailey or Eny, but Peterson and McDonald might end up being the best set of DE to ever start at ISU.
