Misc: Trading Cards

Sports cards ??!

I have Pokémon cards and tins I would be happy to clear out. Settle an estate - guessing 20 yrs old

So the thing has been in one of those fancy hard cases untouched for 30 years and as far as I can remember looked like it was in perfect condition. How much could a guy go to a sports card place and sell it for, give or take. Doubt I would ever get it graded unless there was a pretty substantial value.

I’m absolutely not an expert anymore - only 3 or so decades to catch up on. Ungraded, they seem to be selling for around $25-30 on eBay. I see a PSA 10 that sold for $1700. If you’re local-ish, my understanding is that Jay’s CD & Hobby will give you an honest answer on value.

I looked at the top 5 or 6 cards I got and think I could get 100 or so for them, but who really wants to deal with the hassle of waiting and selling this crap

My hope is that after being worth nothing for decades and decades, enough people just throw them in the trash that in another 40 years maybe they'll be worth something.

But I doubt it. Just too many made.

At least they served a purpose for those in our age ranges. At least me dispising the bulls and trading jordan/puppins for penny/Dennis Scott doesn't effect my adult life.

I read somewhere that with the recent uptick in interest, places that provide PSA services are back logged for months. I feel pretty confident that mine would be a 10 or very close to as it's been in a hard shell since I bought it, but I've never felt the need to get it official. My kids will probably fight over it.
