Council Vegas because I live in the hills, you can see the casinos, downtown Omaha and the rest of Counciltucky! The zoo is in Nebraska but it is so close to the good side of the river.

Funny thing is, that site gives the Omaha Zoo top ratings now, but it is going to be a LOT better in a few years. As soon as the old Rosenblatt Stadium is torn down, most of where the stadium now sits will be new parking, meaning the zoo will finally have plenty of parking for the first time in its history. Then, where the main parking lot is right now, they are planning a really big polar bear building, as well as other improvements.
I think someone said to go on the week days if possible. This is truth. My family and here now and it's so packed it ruins the fun. Hense why im posting on CF. Bought train tickets this morning and having to wait 50 minutes just to ride the stupid train for 10 mins. Oh and no aquarium for us. The line was over 100 people long just to get inside the front door.
I got there at 9am and it wasn't too bad.
Stopped on the way home and ate at 5 guys for the first time. Good but I prefer in-n-out.
Not sure where you got the bolded part, but according to the zoo's website, which I linked earlier:
"New sea lion and polar bear exhibits surrounding a North American coastal themed children’s splash zone and play area. This will be located adjacent to the existing carousel area on the site formally occupied by bears, swan valley and points north. This area will also include family changing areas, a café with food and drink, and trellis sheltered seating for parents and families."
If you go on a weekend, you must go in the morning to avoid the crowds. It doesn't get really busy until after noon or 1pm on the weekends. We've always tried to get there first thing on Sat morning, then bail just before lunch. This accomplishes 4 things:
1) Avoiding huge crowds, esp in the aquarium
2) Beat the heat during the summer
3) Don't have to take out a second mortgage to pay for lunch at the zoo
4) Conducive to afternoon naps for little ones
Hey, I see the Hillbillie ... Err the Reivers are playing in the JUCO World Series right now.
They were ranked #1, but lost their first game, then came all the way back to the championship game tonight.

Two years ago I read they were the first Northern division team to ever win it (2010), though I see a team from New York did in 1966: JUCO Champions
Indeed, the San Diego Zoo it awesome. I think that was where we saw them feeding lions. They stand up above while some of us were below looking through a window. When the guy feeding them showed up with the meat, the lions went crazy trying to climb up the window to get it. We just stood there messing our pants! I've never seen anything that ferocious in person, let alone three feet away!
Another really cool zoo is Taronga in Syndey, Australia. It is an old zoo, up on a hill that overlooks the Sydney Harbor. We had a great time feeding giraffes with the Sydney Harbor Bridge or the Sydney Opera House in the background.

Yes, it does. But San Diego is a quite a lot bigger city than Omaha. Omaha has a very, very good zoo for a city of its size.
I think that was Washington National's Byrce Harpers only year in college when IWCC won.
Now that I think about it, I think the ferocious hungry lions were at the Taronga Zoo. Here is a video of them pacing. The keepers make them put on a show before they feed them. I can't find one of them leaping.

And that reminded me of another great zoo: The Croc Hunter's Zoo in Brisbane, Australia. In addition to crocs, they also have other reptiles, and even a big kangeroo area where you can just walk around with them. One of the things I remember about that zoo is how much the staff seemed to adore the Croc Hunter (we were there before he died). He always came across as a crazy egomaniac on TV, but when you get there you recognize that it was all intended to support the zoo (run by his parents) and support the cause of conservation. It was a real loss for the conservation community when one of his stunts turned bad on him.
Fort Worth Zoo is a really good one. Detroit Zoo is another good one, but I might be a little partial to that one.
