I’m sure this is a very popular take, but I doubt today was nearly as bad as it felt. The D is elite, the offense is terrible but full of talent so I think they’ll get to serviceable soon. This has been the pattern for 5 years in a row.
The next 3 games are against inferior opponents, if they’re not 4-1 in a month I’ll be a lot more concerned than I am today.

He doesn’t drop it, period. That’s been the only qualification that’s mattered for punt returners during Campbell’s reign.
The problem isn’t Milton, it’s the strategy, we don’t rush the punter at all. So the punter gets a very stress free slow kick off and it gives the coverage team enough time to force a fair catch. Every D1 punter will crush it with no pressure, it’s all risk no reward. I understand the strategy they employ for most things but I don’t get what they’re trying to do on punt returns.
I think that's part of it. Campbell played a lot of the younger players. Our second team LBs are almost as good as our starters. Our d-line is ELITE. Our corners are pretty dang good. Only a hand full of mistakes from the defense. Purdy was epically bad today. He deserved to be pulled. 13-27 176 yds 3 int QBR 16
2 interceptions were Purdy's fault. One was a play made by Iowas d end. Our stud running back fumbled. Game over!
Those of you posting that "we gave up" bc we pulled Purdy and Hall early in the 4th qtr..don't understand Campbell.
Campbell doesn't care who you are as a player or what awards you have won. He is only going to take so much failure from his 2 offensive stars before he pulls the plug..
Why should Jirhel Brock or Eli sanders or Dekkers stick around and put in the hard work and perfrom well in practice when Purdy and Hall are literally giving the game away multiple times??
Heck Eli Sanders looked pretty darn good and fast. Dekkers looked great and has great velocity on his throws..

I have always said that the plan is to play clean and control the game.The yards by the offenses show we did okay at that. The defense did their job. But, clean was nowhere in the stadium yesterday due to four turnovers. Hate to say it, but THAT team we just played is very good and they played clean.
Agree with all this, the offense needs a personal mirror though for sure this week. I hope UNLVs D is terrible bc they need a confidence lift
I seem to think they are trying to make Purdy a pocket passer & I think he does better in open space. Maybe Purdy is more injury prone than I know & the staff is protecting him in the pocket

As someone critical of the offense and how they’re using Purdy, pulling Purdy is the opposite of quitting.
What we’ve gotten out of Purdy and the offense through 7 quarters needs to gtfo, whether that be improvement in health from Purdy, better utilization from Manning, or a QB change. Maybe OC change too
Two things that have been fixed since the start of his tenure are kickoffs and short yardage situations on offense (QB under center). Others will follow.

It does look that way. Problem is it appears his vision in the pocket is obstructed and he can’t see to make quick decisions. There is also the challenge of setting up the throwing lane to avoid tips at the line. He probably also gets more ball speed on the run than in the pocket. I like Brock free to operate outside the pocket. If Manning demands in the pocket Dekkers may be a better stylistic fit.
I wish we would develop an offensive line. They push, they don't block.
But, to develop an O-Line would be too much like you-know-who.
At least we have 10 more weeks to say Petras is bad and Nate Stanley is still fat. That's worth a couple wins right there.
