To the Naysayers:

This thread will be interesting when Jalon Daniels rips us to shreds in two weeks.

The offense played like crap and we still won. Better than the offense playing like crap and losing.
I doubt that happens...and KUs defense is not great.

Offense has been awful for weeks. Lost a number of games we should have won and ended any CFP or B12 hopes early in the year after a great start. Offense continued to play awful in first half today. None of the result changes those facts.

But, the defense has been playing really well and what they did today was just incredible given how undermanned the unit is. Flora gave the spark the team needed, what a play. Offense did just enough to get that TD in the 4th to make it a game again. It was a complimentary football win, which takes all three phases.

Is there still gonna be a lot of disappointment in how the season has gone? Absolutely. When you get beat by a superior opponent, it hurts but you know you deserved the loss. We’ve mostly beaten ourselves which is why there’s been so much negativity. But today took a lot of grit to hang in there on the road and pull off the W. That speaks to the character of the guys, they didn’t quit. Proud of their efforts today. Hoping we see it continue for the rest of the season and set the group up for some redemption in 2026.

Agree. But it seems like it’s some horrible hot take if you show any optimism with the team on this board.
I stay pretty optimistic and don’t complain a lot (officiating excluded, my posting don’t lie).

But the team and coaches have under performed expectations and fans are understandably annoyed.

That is what Campbell seems to want.

Or, maybe that's what he and the staff can get. For being a poor (P4) cousin, ISU coaches are doing a fine job. Bowl qualified in 8 of CMC's 10 years here. Remarkable, though the struggle is mighty to elevate Iowa State football to that level.

It's a matter of location and resources. Me, I've perked up after today, looking forward to an 8-4 record possibly. I thank my Cyclone warriors for that.

While going 5-0 this season, it seemed to me we were anything but a juggernaut. What we were (and are) is gritty. Imagine, import a Blue Blood's roster to ISU, you don't believe this staff could do great things?

I'm gonna say it even though I'll get ripped apart here on the board (what's the harm, it's not like we're living in 1940 Warsaw). I'd rather have the young men in this program of ours than those from a bought-and-paid Blue Blood. To me, there is something filthy about buying a football team with lucre. Like Texas Tech's $7 mil defensive line.

Myself, when I get over the momentary disappointment of our losses, when my emotions level out, it comes to my mind how proud I am of the Iowa State University of Science & Technology's mission to educate our nation's young, including the success of our football student athletes (imagine spending 50 hours a week on the sport you love and going on to work so hard in the classroom that that the team graduation rate is 95 percent, so far above the general student body).

In my opinion, our coaches have a magnificent attitude, an incomparable goal to foster the betterment of our Cyclone football young men. It is a winning formula, and they are doing an exceptional job despite what we unprofessional football program observers think we know.

I don't agree with everything but very well said and mostly spot on. Thank you.

What you say now?
I say …..congrats MEN ! You earned a tough tough conference game win on the road against team that was supposed to beat you.
4 turnovers forced
RB runs for 100+
Incompetent play calling and QB struggling to throw
White kid houses punts

We are the Iowa Hawkeyes
lmfaof !!! That’s exactly what I was thinking when Flora housed that effin thing …

Had I not watched the game, Rocco's gawdawful stats alone, would indicate a TCU blowout.

Kudos to all, for the best-worst win I've ever Cyclone witnessed!...and I date back to Amundson & Company.

We just ended a 4-game losing streak and the first thing done is to put on blast the people that recognize there are serious problems with this team. Bold strategy.
Fire Matt, Mouser, and Heacock, plus bench Rocco and Sama.
Fixes Everything!...and let's bring TJ into this discussion!

Why not? ISU won five straight games and the first thing was blast the team and fans that continued to cheer them on when the first sign of adversity was present.

I don’t believe this is true. I don’t think there was a lot of panic after Cincinnati. It was the loss to Colorado when a lot of the criticism/questions about the offense started.

So it wasn’t the first thing but after the third or fourth loss?

It wasn’t the first sign of adversity that did it, it was the second, third and fourth that set fans off. I mean, if 4 straight losses including one to a crap Colorado team isn’t worthy of discontent and panic I don’t know what is.
