Tiller/Cultivator

I don't know why anybody would ever buy a tiller. Go rent one for a day or two and let somebody else deal with the maintenance.

I bought a Troy Bilt off a swap site for $200 bucks. Used only once. Paint wasn't wore off the tines yet. I've had it 4 years now. Till in the spring and fall. Local Ace charges like $40 bucks to rent a front tine tiller. So not comparing apples to apples here but still on front tine vs rear tine, you have to clean it up. I have done nothing to it but gassed it up and go. So I've pretty much paid for it vs renting. Just my opinion.

It's not like you use a tiller as often as lawnmower.

This makes sense if you can find a nice deal but I don't have space to store something I'll use once or twice a year.

He’s a semi retired guy that can’t sit still. He has his own garden, my SILs garden and is evidently putting one in our yard this year. It would see a decent amount of use. I bet he takes care of close to 40-50 tomato plants along with a bunch of other stuff. I just don’t see him screwing with batteries and my SILs garden is probably 100 yards from their house so too far for a plug in version.

I was looking at something similar to this.

Go big or go home. Get him a name brand utility tractor (John Deere or CIH) and attachments. Or go really big. If he likes you , you might get it back later.
