Random golfing observation. The LPGA players seem more concerned about sun protection than the PGA guys. It's like 107 heat index in Mpls today so killing time watching golf this afternoon. Lots of gals wearing lightweight long sleeve SPF tops and it's 93* at the LPGA's PGA Championship today. Guy are all bare armed unless it's cold or raining (think British Open). Of course the gals get to go with shorts or skirts.

Yeah have noticed that as well. There is a lot of Asians (especially Koreans) on the LPGA tour and think that's a big part of their culture to not get too much sun. That's probably why a lot of them look so young and have good skin for much of their lives. They don't destroy it with getting too many UV rays.

Also Tiger in a good spot only 4 shots back heading into the Weekend. I really do feel like he's going to win this. As soon as he gets to within in a shot or two of the lead I think a lot of those guys at the top right now will meltdown. Just not a lot of guys with either a lot of experience or they are just not upper echelon players there this week.

LPGA is just big in the Asia/Pacific region because their the best at the sport. They don’t have the stigma that you’re a wuss if you don’t wear long sleeves. Unlike any people in America. If I wear long sleeves to work in a corn field, I’m some kinda of *****

Dude just drove drove a par 4 and the putting group had to step out of the way to avoid interfering with the shot. Some rookie guy.

Other than Rickie, who the hell are these guys?
I think Hossler has a good future but other than that....

That's why I said before the tourney even started that I thought Tiger had a good chance to finally get a win this week.

Tiger going to end up tied for 4th Place. I'm sure that's not what he wanted but did finally start to make some longer putts this week so that might be a good sign for the future. Other issue is though that I doubt he plays against a weaker field the rest of the year.

Molinari went nuts today (62) to win the tourney by 8 shots.

Tiger will never be back. Golf needs to move on.

He will, obviously, never be back to old Tiger, because that was some of the best golf you will ever see. What he can do, though, is win a few tournaments here and there, and who knows, maybe even win another major. He is clearly striking the ball well enough to do so, the putting just needs to come along.

I find these posts amusing. I understand people wanting to hear about, and watch other golfers, but there is a reason that people haven't moved on. He drives ratings like crazy still. Whether people like him as person, whatever, but him coming back and potentially winning again after having his back fused is incredible.

Who’s had the better year? Player A has 7 top 25’s while Player B has 9, but player A has 3 top 5’s versus 2 for player B.

Player A is Tiger and player B is Jordan Spieth. Tiger is already ranked in the top 70 in the world after having BACK FUSHION SURGERY. Give the guy some time. He’s gonna win again.

On the road...
Clearly at this point his main issue is his putter, but in my eyes it goes way deeper than that. He lost his killer instinct. While I am happy that he has become a better playing companion and is much more open and giving to players and media, that "game face" isn't there any longer. He came into the sport saying he didn't want to just beat people, he wanted to destroy them. His mental edge alone won him tournaments. The new Tiger is a good thing for the sport but imo it's what is causing him to make these ill-advised mental mistakes that he NEVER used to make.

Today's round was a prime example...hell this whole week was. He tied Molinari in birdies made and finished 10 shots back. The 1st hole today he came up 14 yards short with a SW in hand, he missed 3ft, 9ft, 6ft birdie putts but made 29ft and 20ft birdies. He shows flashes of his old brilliance on the greens but misses the short putts that he never used to. He went years with missing a putt inside of 3 ft...that's damn near impossible to do.

Tiger will win soon and I wouldn't be surprised if it's in three weeks at Carnoustie. He has a T7 and T12 in his two times there. He is back to hitting fairways and greens and the stinger.

Or I could see Sergio avenging his 2007 playoff loss to Padraig. Think about how different his career could have been had he won that one...

A course where you don't have to hit drivers and fairly benign greens-maybe, but I doubt it.

Tiger isn't winning at Carnoustie. He'll be lucky to make the cut. Bellerive is a different story, though. His iron play is as good as anyone on tour, about 2 guys hit it measurably farther than he does and even that's not consistent, and it seems as if his driver is getting better. He needs to figure out the putting. That's worrisome, however his putting was very good beginning the year so it's hard for me to believe it's an age or eyesight thing. He's gone through this putting stuff before and come out the other side all while having back issues that affect those short game shots more than others. If you look at Memorial, he boat races that thing with an okay putting performance.

Chamblee has made a good point that this comeback is essentially another swing change. Tiger's never been all that good in the first year of one of those and we have 4 of them to use as data points. At the end of the day, if you told me in January that we would have what we have in Tiger: A guy who seems very healthy, who hits it as far as anyone, who is in the top 5 or 7 in SG: Approach, but he hasn't won even though he's had 3 or 4 chances, I think anyone would have taken that. Hell, most people, before the Honda/Valspar runs, would have taken just the health piece.

He'll never be back in the fashion of 00-01 or 06-07 Tiger, but he's competitive right now with a lot of room for fairly easy, logical improvement. He's got the hard stuff done, now he just needs the putter there.
