Thursday OT - Best Covers

Coming from a die-hard MJK fan- Elton John's "Rocket Man" covered by Puscifer (Maynard James Keenan). Not better than thw original, but a worthy cover none the less. Check it out, worth it.

Too many to remember. For some reason, these two versions are among the first examples that come to mind when I think of this topic.

“Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood,â€￾ The Animals; and Santa Esmeralda (orig. Nina Simone)

I thought I read somewhere that the first time Reznor heard Cash's version he said "that's his song now", or something along those lines.

I heard that when he watched the video for the first time he shed a few tears. I can understand why.

One more, anyone heard No Quarter by Tool? That one is crazy. It just builds and builds and the end is fantastic. Pretty long song.

Hold Me Tight is probably one of my least favorite Beatles songs/performances - I just think McCartney's singing is a bit off key. Still better than What Goes On, but still...

This Doo-Wop version of the song, produced by the (famous and) infamous Phil Spector at least makes me appreciate the song.

Metallica - Am I Evil (Diamond Head)

I'll see your Cake, and raise you Faith No More.

Lots of really good stuff here.

I prefer Talking Heads Take me to the River.

The Grateful Dead's Not Fade Away is one of my favorites and an apt tribute to Buddy Holly an underrated pioneer of Rock 'n Roll.

I love the ukelele version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow. Not going to try and spell Israel K's last name.

Lera Lynn did a cover or TV on the Radio's Wolf Like Me. It's a great song and she is great on it.

There is a band Old School Freight Train that does Superstitious with some excellent results.

Alison Kraus and Union Station's "Now That I've Found You" ain't bad either.

Im sure I will get flamed for this, but I dont care. This version is so much better than the original.
