It's time. We'll have nothing more than moral victories the rest of this year. We may even be done playing meaningful games now. Team hasn't responded and lacks leadership. I love GMac but he's not getting it done for whatever reason. I don't fault him for the first several years but I'm really struggling to find where we are better as a team or program now than last year or the year before. We have consistently lacked depth and athleticism. We don't compare to other B12 teams after all these years. It could just be bad luck and we either wait for luck to change or we try and change the luck ourselves. This isn't a "sky is falling" post and I'm not really even looking for debate as I am a self-proclaimed GMac apologist but for the good of the program in the long run it might be best to consider other coaching options after this season. I know GMac could attain a certain level of success but its hard to see when we get there.

Its off my chest now. Go cyclones!

Hey now, we could still make the tourney. You have to wait until the end of the season to be negative.

Re: Regardless of tonight's game....

It's sad how bad this season will end up being. I think before the season everyone had high expectations for the first time in a few years. I can't see this team winning more than 4 or 5 conference games.

I'm tired of losing basketball.

In all honesty, if this team doesn't go to any post season it will probably be the biggest disappointing season as a whole in MBB history. It would be WAAAY worse than WM last year. This team has some real talent, just no wins...

I know we don't have the money to get rid of GMac, but how do we not? I think the fans will revolt and we'll turn into Carver-Hawkeye West....:wideeyed:

Nah, the most disappointing was the loss to Hampton, great season prior to that, but that loss made it the most forgettable in my mind. This team this year is a lot like Wayne Morgan's teams, enough talent, not enough coaching.

I completely agree with you. I like Mac and i think hes a good guy, this should be our best team and we're not that much better than the last couple years and we're worse than we were with Wayne Morgan. What about next year? We lose most likely brackins and gilstrap, and where do we go from there? Who do we lean on? Garrett? I dont see how our program is moving forward.

I agree. I've tried not to be on the "firing squad," but I just don't see how the program has progressed one iota. I was trying to convince myself it was mostly due to player turnover following the coaching change but the way this team plays...whoa. Think about next year...and the year after. I don't see any movement in the right direction. I'm ready.

this reminds me of dan mccarney's last season. come in with a lot of hope and it ends up being absolutely awful.

There is something fundamentally wrong with this team. It seems "different" than the previous McD years, as the previous years I don't think I would of called them soft or lazy.

this year....

I don't know how, as a coach, you can't get your team to play with intensity. I just don't know if Greg is a bad motivator or what, but I have never seem an Iowa State team so nonchalant.

Yeah, that Hampton game sucked, but at least there was a whole season of fun times before that game. This season has just been brutal outside of the first 6 games against cupcakes, and I think that just made the fall that much worse.

As for WM's teams, at least they made it to post seasons. Heck, we even won a game in the NCAA tourney! I would shocked, just SHOCKED, if we won a game in the NIT, much less the NCAAs.

I don't see us doing anything and we have yet to have absolutely anything good from McD's 4 years here.

I think this season has been doomed. It has been done in by injuries along with Lucca leaving, the Colvin fiasco. I think a few things were out of Macs control. Anyway, let's just say we have none of these issues and we end up making the NCAA tournament and get knocked out in the second round. With all of that, still, what is in the future? I odn't know. I want to believe in Mac. I do. I haven't given up on this sseason but it is going to be next to impossible to make a run through the Big 12. I just can't see where we go next year. Mac will be here so we will see. I just don't know where we are heading. I am a firm believer in trajectory and right now we are on a flat slope and I don't like it. Instead of hammering Mac, which will do no good, I will continue to support the team. I just don't have a clue what is going to happen. If we lose tonight, I will probably give that a pass. With Lucca and the stuff around Gilstrap, I will let this one go a little. We can lose 6 I think and still possibly make it. Saturday is the day we find out what is going to happen.

I can't remember our last win over a ranked team. Actually, I don't believe Mac has ever had one at ISU. I have been a Mac supporter since day one but over the course of this season I'm leaning on the side that mac needs to go.
