I'm not sure most people realize how talented he is. He ran a 15:04 at state cross country. That's a 5k, 3.1 miles, in 15:04. I'd be lucky to do a 1k that fast.

IHSAA - Iowa @ihsaa_iowa 1h1 hour ago Thomas Pollard of Gilbert shatters the meet record in the 3A 1600M Run at 4:09.67. The previous record was 4:15.65, set by Austin in 2013.
Won the 3200 easily Thursday with a time of 9:07.41.8
My cousin ran an 8:52 3200 in high school... are we just hyping him because he's an iowa guy?
Aah that makes sense I was thinking that time looked slow for state.Pollard won last year's 3200 in 8:50.43, which is the all-time record in Iowa. There was a bit of a head wind this year, and the field he was facing was nowhere near his caliber. Hard to push yourself to those more elite times when no one's running with you; last year's crop of distance runners was the best we've seen and will see for a long time.
