If it is greener, it’s because of the amount of manure spread on it

Why isn’t Rick Barnes going crazy on the refs on the foul on his guy on Bohannan’s 3? Why is he sitting down at times and not up yelling and directing his players the whole time?
That’s coaching right?
Barnes sure has a pair. Didn't play his All-American Schofield the entire overtime. Tennessee got up 6 early in OT, but that still takes some guts.
I don't know. Five minutes into the game I knew that our "B" team had shown up. It has kind of bothered me all year that Prohm uses Team A, Team B analogy and basically throws up his hands as if there is nothing he can do. He get's paid pretty good money to figure out what to do when our team isn't playing up to there ability. We had the perfect storm of everything going wrong all night against an inferior team. The refs had more to do with the loss than any coaching blunders. I was kind of hoping that he would lose it and get. T at some point to keep the refs honest...
I'm not misrepresenting anything. Go actually read your responses. This is exactly what your are saying. Defend and deflect regardless of the argument. No unbiased reflection on how the team had issues or if coach Prohm may have had any role in those challenges.
Well, let me be the 100th person in here to tell you that Prohm isn't perfect. You know he has had issues making adjustments to games and drawing up successful offensive sets, both out of timeouts and for inbounds plays. He also had challenges in dealing with team chemistry.
You can defend Prohm all you want, that doesn't prevent the FACT that there are many areas he needs to improve. That's all I'm going to say on the matter.
Where did you acquire all your coaching knowledge?
I'm sure you can tell me all about set theory, but I can tell you how a real boob feels so there's that.
Nerd.
No, I refuse to be illogical. Out of bounds plays have multiple actions on them. Maryal May have chosen to cut to the path of least resistance to make sure he could catch the ball, but to say that it was specifically drawn up that way isn’t based in fact.
Even Fred, gasp the greatest out of bounds play caller ever, had multiple actions on OOB plays.
Basically Prohm is a good coach. There are somethings he does well and somethings not so well. He's not a great coach. If you are oK with that that's fine but he's not above criticism and he has a defined ceiling. I'm fine with him representing the University but Sweet 16's is about the best he can do.I'm ok with you ******** about it...freedom of speech. But unless you're a time traveler from the future, you have no idea whether Prohm can lead us to a Final Four. The one thing he seems to do pretty well is recruit. He continues to bring top talent in, we'll always be in the conversation. He IS capable of improving himself as a coach too. Although I'm curious of how he goes about doing this.
Is this coach K?First of all, Prohm coached this team terribly all year long.
People got all excited because we won the Big 12 Tourney but we should have won the Big 12 Tourney. (We had the best roster in the Big 12)
Finishing 9-9 in conference play was really embarrassing as the Clones clearly should have won the league.
Elite teams play two big men....it's just the way it is.....look at KU, UK, UNC, Duke, etc.......
Why he didn't start a line-up of Wigginton, Shayok, Horton-Tucker, Lard, and Jacobsen is ridiculous.....people wondering why we kept getting out-rebounded and then you see four guards out there and it's not real tough.....rotating Weiler-Babb and Haliburton with the three other guards would have worked fine but instead he put the team in a bad situation at all times with NEVER having a second big on the floor.....that is a joke.
Sure, you can go to four guards at times but when you're in a big boys league you have to compete at a big boy level.....Prohm doesn't do that.
Then we once again we got to watch "stand and watch basketball" tonight as he allowed them to spend much of the first half (and many games during the regular season) with four guys on the perimeter just standing and then shooting a three-pointer with only ONE guy underneath to rebound.....we were extremely easy to to guard because our coaching was terrible....we have GREAT players that can drive to the basket in Shayok, Horton-Tucker, and Wigginton who could have been drawing fouls all first half, drawing defense for a miss and easy offensive rebound, or creating wide-open three's but no.....Steve allowed them to stand on the perimeter and shoot NBA three's......live by it and die by it.........
Then let's talk about our defense........Ohio State has a completely mediocre team without Wesson (they lost by 19 without him against Northwestern).....he's clearly their only big-time player......a good coach would double team him every time he touched it and would have forced the rest of the OSU team to beat us......not Steve.....that was just too logical of a thing to do......so he just let Wesson toy with our bigs for most of the game.......it's easy stuff that he just decided not to do.......
If people think this is just reactionary to a tough tourney loss, you don't understand the game......he's the head coach who allowed his team to have problems that led to a 9-9 Big 12 record which is downright embarrassing and now he just led us to a horrific loss to a terrible Ohio State team......if you think he's the guy to lead this program to big-time tourney runs you are wrong.......in fact he took over a program that was loaded with talent and he went to the Sweet 16 with Fred's team......then went to the round of 32, then no tourney, then now we are out in the round of 64.........it's been downhill and in four years he has a 35-37 record in Big 12 league play......that's brutal......ISU has been to the tourney 7 of 8 years but if they want to become an elite program which I believe they can become, they need a new leader.....it's real simple.

Personally, I remember getting pissed at Fred because I thought we always struggled getting the ball in from the baseline under our own basket. It seemed like he just wanted to get the ball in so he could setup an action, but I never thought he had much success off the inbounds play itself.

The lore of Fred has definitely shot up since he left.
I remember him getting very little from BDJ (RIP), when he was brought in to be a difference maker. I remember thinking Abdul Nader was everything everyone said he was when he transferred in.
I guess I don't know why we think he has a defined ceiling and that he'll never get past the Sweet 16. He's been here 4 years. I don't think anyone knows what his ceiling is.
And let's note that only one coach has taken us past the Sweet 16.
Didnt read all the replies. But my response is simple. He turned a last place team into a top 25 team that won big 12 tourney. Not to shabby when the two best players played about half the year.First of all, Prohm coached this team terribly all year long.

Did you convientiently forget his 1st year when he won 2 games?Just stop?
So I guess you are okay with a 35-37 record in Big 12 over his four years and how the team has one NCAA tournament win in three years.......I guess you are okay with 9-9 mediocre records when this team CLEARLY had the talent to go 14-4 in league.......prove my points wrong......otherwise your post means nothing.....you didn't because you can't......end of story....
Winning the big 12 tourney and finishing in top 25 is not mediocre. Why? He will do nothing for us but provide mediocrity. Four years here 3 tournament wins against Iona, Arkansas Little Rock, Nevada. Losses in the tournament to Virginia, Purdue, and Ohio State. See the trend there? Looking back at it, it’s embarrassing. So much of Fred’s players were the reason you people think he is a good coach. A sweet sixteen was great but he had Niang, Nader, Morris, Burton, Thomas, McKay. I am missing someone else but that’s a lot of talent. If you want mediocrity that’s fine, but I expect more. He is a great recruiter but that only gets you so far when you can’t adjust anything during the game.
