At least on my end. Less hatred and pointless arguments so far between fans I know. This is actually kind of nice and I like it. And wish I could get use to it being a yearly thing. It’ll never happen, but honestly it would be incredible to not play Iowa every year. It’s just not worth it. I get so sick of the trash talking and hatred that happens especially during game week. All of the negativity just isn’t worth the game.

People who say we should cancel this series are morons.

Frankly I hate when we lose, and when we win I'm relieved as much or more than I am happy. I just hate dealing with their BS.

College football, more than any other sport, is about rivalries, pageantry, and traditions. We are never going to have another football rivalry like the one we have with Iowa (as hard as we try to make fetch happen with Kansas State), and the only other one I can imagine we have is KU for basketball.

Saying we should trim those rivalries out of the sport because opposing fans can sometimes be annoying on social media is just one more reason to be off those awful platforms in the first place, not to cancel the games. Whoever we replace them with would never be even half as interesting of a game.

Who is honestly going to be as excited to beat up (or at least hopefully beat up) another MAC or Sun Belt team each year? Even if it was another P5 school, how interesting would a mid-level Big Ten (e.g., Purdue or Minnesota), SEC, or ACC school be in comparison to going to war with the Hawkeyes?

It is an indefensible position. The rivalry is good for the schools, it is good for the state, and it is good for the sport. If you find "Hawk B.S." too much, then get off Twitter those few weeks. I have found my interactions with Hawk fans live to generally be pleasant enough in real life -- way more than on the Internet.

I say all this as one of the band geeks who got beer thrown on them and all sorts of nasty insults thrown at him when I made my three trips to Kinnick in an Iowa State uniform. I have probably seen worse than most of you and suffered more of it, but even then, I say keep the game on the schedule.

Honestly, the entire college football world has been more enjoyable with zero Big 10 teams playing. (Maybe because I live in the heart of Big 10 country) I wish they weren’t starting back up in a couple weeks.
It’s been nice not having the talking heads talking that conference up every chance they get, even though it’s really just Ohio St and the 13 dwarves. The PAC 12 not playing has also been nice, no more jumping up and down from their conference trying to pretend like they should have any bearing on the playoff.

I was hoping we would have gotten them this year, and next year, and next next year. So hard to accept we did not get to give them a beat down with their new QB,

On the other hand, we likely would have pulled another early game turd fest, so OK if we skip a year.

And laughing at little brother B1G deciding to play in the fall with the big boys has been delicious. Player safety, player safety, oooops, $$$$$.

@Sigmapolis an indefensible position? Sorry, I grew up in Ames during "the streak" and was regularly approached by Hawk fan Ames residents and classmates regardless of season. Doing nothing more egregious than wearing Cyclone gear, in Ames, as a middle schooler, prompted unprovoked comments about Hawkeye superiority from random strangers.

I know the game is good for the economy, and now that it's been competitive its even good for the schools and state. And I appreciate that you had beers thrown at you and you still like interacting with those bumblebee buffoons. But I would absolutely love to play a game against a middle-of-the-road P5 team that we've never played before. Or play a game against Missouri or Colorado for old time's sake (**** the Huskers, though).

Frankly social media isn't the issue. It was always the real life interactions where I had to be the bigger person - even as a junior high kid approached by an adult. On social media I can just be a troll but in real life I hold myself to a higher standard. I can't drop to their level of jackassery, but I also get sick of always having to be the one that deescalates and walks away. I'd rather just not deal with them at all. I get plenty of enjoyment out of the season without having a rivalry game. OU and Texas will always be big games due to the David and Goliath factor. KSU will always be a big game because of the similarities between our programs and the recent competitiveness of the games. I don't see Iowa as a bigger game than any of those, but their fans are a MUCH bigger pain in the ass that last all year long. **** 'em.

It would be more enjoyable if we actually won the game more
