Isn't this where someone points out that ISU took a ton of threes and jumpers? Neither team played much in the way of defense tonight.

Considering Oklahoma just took more threes and jumpers two days ago and WVU committed 8 more fouls that game I'd say your trolling attempt is flawed

Yes the refs suck but it is ridiculous to ***** about officiating when we benefit more than nearly everyone at home.
Except that we out fouled them at Hilton also. WV has only fouled less than 20 times 3 times in conference play. And two were against isu. Coincidence?

Last time WVU had less fouls called on them was 1 1/2 seasons ago.

No, we refuse to get Niang the ball. He needs to be the focal point of the entire offense.

We certainly got jobbed by the refs and subsequently were unable to play tough D. They also sunk crazy shots (like always seems to happen at the end of our games) to build that final lead. I like our chances if we get them in the Big 12 tourney.

I'm still ****** about it. We played pretty damn well until they called their 12th and 13th ticky tack foul on us for their +1's. It gave them their lead and the refs let it hold.

When it was unbiased? We got rid of an 8 point deficit and were playing well. Then niang got called for ******** fouls and was forced to do something he wouldn't normally do.

Can someone who knows more about the referees fill me in on how game assignments work? I know we technically don't have "big 12" ref crew but is it still basically the same guys?

I don't think they work with the same guys night in night out. Not sure who hires refs for conference games.

WVU averages 28 FTAs a game, good for 5th best in the country. ISU averages 16 FTAs, good for 11th worst. Tonight, both teams shot more or less right at their averages with WVU shooting 29 and ISU shooting 18.

If you w
ant to get to the line more, actually attack instead of standing around the perimeter and hucking threes all game.

Iowa State is near the to of the conference in points in the paint this year. That agument might have held up 4 years ago when we did nothing but shoot 3's, but that hasn't been the way ISU has played in the last several years.

Iowa State also only took one more 3 than West Virginia, and West Virginia took a lot of long 2s. West Virginia definitely took more jump shots in this game.Wh

When West Virginia plays defense, they almost always have a hand on a guy. They just get away with little grabs and pulls throughout the game that wear the opponent out and gradually lead to turnovers. These all should be called fouls but for some reason refs let it go.

Home teams always get more calls, that is why college BB home court advantages are what they are. I looked back at the fouls and ISU gets called for 2.5 fouls LESS than the opponent at Hilton, and called for 3.5 MORE fouls on the road vs their opponent (conference games only). This isn't a coincidence, this is the way it is, home teams always get the benefit of the calls. Last night was no different than every night of college BB.

The free throws attempted stat is a terrible one because no way is WVU your "average" defense. They are a physical, high-fouling defense that should result in a higher FTA for whoever they play every night. You don't play WVU and expect to only have an average amount of foul shots attempted. Just like you don't play Iowa state and attempt your average because we just don't foul and constantly don't contest at the rim to avoid them.

Except the team that fouls almost the least in the NCAA got called for 7 more than a team who averages 24 fouls a game. But, no you are right. Same as every other night. You expect some calls to go home teams way, but to act like it wasn't beyond that is trying to hard to not be a homer.
