We sincerely thank you for the invitation to join the Pac 12. We were very impressed with how you rolled out the red carpet for us and falling to your knees with tears streaming down your face begging and pleading for us to bring some sort of relevance to the Pac 12 was a nice touch. It was great seeing our old pal Colorado as well although we weren't quite sure why he was cowering in the corner trying to hide behind the office furniture... might have been flashbacks to the 2005 Big XII Championship game. That guy is such a joke <cough, cough> I mean joker. It is with great sadness though that we will have to decline your gracious offer to have us bring wealth and fans to your league. We certainly love the west coast and LA but the City of Angels has a way of corrupting and eventually ruining people, just ask USC (in rehab/probation) or UCLA (currently residing on skid row). Please send our apologies to UCLA, we didn't want to kick them when they were down but we just couldn't help it. We also weren't too excited about this global domination plan you kept mentioning, it kind of creeped us out. We hope that we can still be friends and to show you our goodwill you might want to give our little bro A&M a call. We know he has made his intentions known that he wants to be gang raped by the SEC but the little freak likes to give and receive so you might have a shot. Your welcome.

The UT to the Big 10 thing is not happening. And we have our under educated Red Raider friends to thank. What did the board of regents actually give DeLoss Dodds the power to do after their meeting? Stay in the Big 12. All new conference affiliation decisions were to be made by the Board of Regents. Why was this? Simple. Staying in the Big 12 protects TTU. Moving may not if TTU is unwelcome. TTU is most definitely unwelcome in the Big 10. UT will never get the approval to move to the Big 10 because of this. Considering the new information about an iron-clad contract and very high buyouts being brought to the table by Dodds this NW rumor is a joke. I realize NW fans have nothing else to talk about during football season(except for the win possibility against Iowa), but they need to stop.

Besides the other reasons, I find it hard to believe that:

1. Texas would ever want to play in the north, or open Texas up to Big 10 recruiting, and

2. Most Texans want UT in a conference based in Illinois and no major conference based in Texas.

UT and TT don't have the same Board of Regents. Why would the UT BOR care what happens to TT?

Good point, although the UT BOR disallowing UT's prez to make decisions regarding joining other conferences (only allowing him the decision to STAY in the B12 or not) is still pretty good evidence that this entire memo is bogus (as if we needed any more).

Since it is obvious that ESPN is behind all of this, their goal must be to have Texas go independent. That way, they show all home games only on LHN. That si the only way they can make up the 300m.

Wouldn't this entire contract, if it actually existed, be the exact definition of tortious interference? I can't see anyway in Hell any conference, especially the Big Ten, would agree to anything like this IN PRINT.

It isn't a contract - it is a letter of intent, and PBC specifically states that it is contingent upon the remaining Big 12 members determining where there conference allegiances lie.

Also, what I fear most, is that this could be the specific reason that OSU/UM/PSU are on board with this idea - they could be thinking - "sure, we'll let Texas in with LHN, but then we need to make a Nittany Lion Network, a Buckeye Network, & a Go Blue Network".

That would not be good for Iowa - or the stability of the Big Ten. I'm hoping PBC's report is mostly bogus, but like I said before - the guy has hit on some stuff in the past that no one else could have.

That would be great if UT went to the B10 as a Tier 2 school like Nebby did. Left to pick over the scraps after the other schools get their money first.

What really would be great is if UT would get their head out of their *** and the conference forms a B12 network that is just as succesful as the B10 network. Nebby would be regulated as a second hand citizen in the B10 while those who stuck it out in the B12 enjoy true equal sharing.

You're right, I shouldn't of said contract. However, that doesn't change the point that this type of conversation between the B1G and a University under a 10 year contract with the B12 and it's TV partners would be tortious interference.

The part about "determining conference allegiances" seems vague to me. It doesn't seem to say that UT would only leave for the B1G if the B12 dissolves, which is the only scenario I could see this LOI being written for. Maybe I'm misinterpreting it though.

Even in that scenario, UT would still likely have more total AD revenue than every Big Ten shcool, except perhaps tOSU...

At this point in time the best option for every conference in America is to have Texas go independent and never even consider allowing Texas to become a member or for everyone to hope that somehow Texas can be broken down on the LHN business and remain in the Big XII. As long as Texas is running around with this exclusive LHN deal any conference that comes into contact with them will experience the same turmoil that the Big XII has suffered. Basically Texas has become a plague and will kill pretty much everything they come into contact with. ESPN deserves a big portion of the blame as well. ESPN couldn't possibly have paid over 300 million dollars to Texas to televise some volleyball games, softball games, baseball games, or track meets. Not a chance in hell. No, ESPN had their eyes on Texas football the entire time but simply needed to find a way to get it all on LHN.

I think that they would get sued harder than aTm if they went to the SEC. Their Chancellor is supposed to be heading the Big 12 committee not playing both sides of the coin. If he has been negotiating with the SEC all along then there are some serious ethical issues here.
