Anybody think A&M has a chance of staying around is all OU's demands are met? I know publicly they said no way, but they have to say that not to get the SEC teams mad at them. I don't know, but Pickens comments would make you at least think they're talking again behind closed doors.
If A&M is indeed gone, I really don't want to go over 12 either. Why should the Big 12 have to take the BE remnants when just a week ago the BE teams were begging the BE not to accept ISU and Baylor.
Assuming A&M is gone, adding BYU, West Virginia, and Ohio State makes sense to me. Agree?
First order of business should be equal revenue and a death clause for teams wanting out. Once that's agreed upon then seek out new members.
Yeah...at this point I kind like the idea of 12 but don't know if we want to implode the Big East given what we've been through as a Conference. If we didn't touch them and even if they lost UConn & Rutgers, they could add ECU/UCF/Villanova (for FB)/Memphis, Houston, SMU, etc.....they could still survive.

Another thought.... The mere fact that OU is even making these demands could mean that the Pac-12 has said thanks but no thanks to expanding. If that's the case, the Big 12 needs to move fast here and bring everybody together before the Pac-12 news is leaked.
Once that's leaked, which, if true, it will be, the power shifts back to Texas, which would likely try to make OU pay for trying to pull a fast one.
At this point, it doesn't matter how we get there but if the Big 12 is going to live and things are going to be better/more equal/less top heavy in the upcoming incarnation, it's key that every school involved swallows its pride and does whatever it takes to get to that end.
If not, we could find ourselves back to square one and the Big 12 may die anyway. The worst part about that? This whole thing would just drag on even longer.

I still don't get how A&M is affording the Big 12 exit fee. No matter what happens, screw those bastards--make them pay every cent of what is owed. For all of this drama, stress, lost recruits etc. One could say our settlement with Nebraska and Colorado emboldened A&M to think they could get off for less than the full amount too. Screw that.
A lot of hubbub just because we beat Texas last year & now they want out of Big XII so we can't kick their arses anymore.
He claimed Oklahoma was just bluff and was looking out for us all along. He might, through no fault of his own, end up being right.
At least we can hope.

TCU
3 of them might get Big 12 invites (I predict TCU, USF and Louisville)
West Viriginia "might" get SEC invite
UConn, Rutgers might get ACC invite
That leaves Cincinnati possibly on the outside. If I were them right now, I would be the most concerned about any of the BCS schools.

A number of posters commented that OU might be bluffing or posturing. I still have not seen any evidence that OU is looking out for anyone but themselves. Especially if OU's AD ends up as the next Big 12 commisioner...

Good post. I agree with you except that we heard today that WV will not get a SEC invite. I think IF the Big 12 stays together and adds 3, it adds WV, USF, and Louisville.
There's been a lot of opinion and "sources" and not much news since this monster thread started. The OU story feels different. Now, we know the burr(s) under their saddle and we (the AD's and Presidents) can talk about them. Too bad the commish is the 30 second sound bite and is most easily handled. The rest of the "list" might be more difficult. Huge challenge and opportunity for the interim commish.
