Yes i bet there is more fights now. But it's because the era of social media and ego. Everyone in the entertainment, such as NBA, always need to eat their social ego and find a new Twitter fight making into the flavor of the week.
And young people don't want to work anymore, WWF was better with Hulk Hogan and the Iron Sheik, etc.... What are you 60? Yeah nobody had egos until just recently.

Not like you think it did. Jordan got it rolling. The NBA finals were on freaking tape delay and in in the afternoons in the 80s.

Early 80s, yes.

There are several articles and stories depicting those two as having a big impact on the interest in the NBA.

It grew even more so after that with Jordan, etc.

It's a pretty easy fix IMHO, get rid of defensive 3 seconds. Once the NBA mandated it to make it a more offensive finesse game the intensity and passion of the game dropped off a cliff. Just my 2 cents.

The NBA is the best basketball product in the world. They need to reduce the number of games so guys play more and ratchet up the intensity. And they need to tweak the rules to make the 3 point shot harder, like move the line back.

But from a basketball standpoint, it’s top notch.

I'll agree this! Probably the best organization of sports. Or maybe something i soccer. But for sure. NBA is the best of worldwide audiences. Everyone plays everywhere in the world, and so many professional leagues.

If they figure out the speed of travel, maybe they'd see out NBA teams around the world. That'd be sweet.

And it's still growing today. It's become a world sport. It's watched by more people today than ever before honestly. It's never going to be big in a place like Iowa. It's still bigger than college basketball by a long shot where most people live

Make those large contracts more incentive based. What incentivizes these top players to play regular season game if they already have a major contract? Pretty much nothing.

From a basketball standpoint, it sucks. Talent is top notch across the board, but what they are playing is not basketball.

I agree of sure, of course their has been ego the beginning of world. I'm just saying it's ego using on steroids, the social media. This is a different topic, but I'm sure most people will say social media made worse of basically anyone their egos.

Pretty sure that gets said for every sport.

Sure, but MLB players want to play every game and generally do. NFL? Very incentive based. NHL? Those guys are nuts. They will play in any game they physically can. Basketball players don’t have that anymore. They used to. But not anymore.

It's all in your head. They pass the ball and play way more team basketball than they did 20-30!years ago. JFC it was simple isolation plays all night back then. Throw it down low and have the big man back his ass to the basket. Defensively you just packed the lane. Most 4s and 5s couldn't hit a shot outside of 15 ft. Today's game may not be the game you remember from "back in the day" but respectfully I think your assessment of today's game is off.

I just watched the bulls go 1-24 from 3 in a half. That ain’t basketball. Thats me at the Y getting up shots
If you watched the worst team in the league 30 years ago it didn't look like basketball either. Mix in a Boston game ffs. Tell me they don't play team ball. OKC with the big 3 several years ago was the funnest NBA team I've ever watched.

The Bulls stink. And those games are rare in the NBA, but happen in the college game somewhat frequently. Kansas State just shot 1-19 from 3 against Arizona and won the game.

Has nothing to do with individual players or their skills. The game itself is just not watchable anymore.

The playoffs are incredible, they always have been.

College fans are used to this short 30ish game season annd short games with a long shot clock and can’t handle an 82 game regular season where every game has far more possessions by rule/math.

Think of it like two seasons…because the playoffs is as long as the meaningful part of an ncaa season.
