The Jack

Not quite sure what you are getting at.

You have to squint your eyes.

Try to focus on Cell 114N and you should see what he's talking about once the picture comes in focus

Yeah, that sheet says that Phase II got approved by ISU in May but still has to go to the Regents. The bidding is scheduled for this October, construction begins in November, and completion/occupancy is August 2009. FPS doesn't pussyfoot around with their recordkeeping, so this could very well be solid evidence that the full Phase II is happening this year...

You don't need the asterisk to tell you that. Right on the item line, you can see the blank cell for the month it was approved by the BOR, which means it hasn't been presented to them yet. JP's not going to take it to the Regents until we have the funding in place, and as long as we have the funding, the Regents will sign off on it with no problem. Besides, I can see JP trying to keep this quiet- this would be a huge morale boost to surprise Cyclone Nation with at some point this fall. I bet he keeps this one up his sleeve as much as possible (super-sleuth message-board maniacs excepted).

Anyone remember when that goes in front of the Board of Regents? I seem to remember that within the next month they will be proposing to the Regents to go ahead with bids and continue to investigate the renovations.

Somehow I feel that if a gift has been pledged it will only be revealed at/after the Regents meeting.

He will announce it during the Kansas game....to 'Sweet Caroline' while we are up 21 to 7.

my question is...how long before FPM takes this off of their spreadsheet? If I remember correctly, this was a problem when this was brought out a few months ago per se...that they deleted the spreadsheet or the line of interest from that spreadsheet.

Looks like according to the Register archives (purchasing old news? Seriously) Pollard did his pitch to continue investigating the architecture of Phase II back in April.

So...guess we're still waiting on that gift...

All this talk about the stadium gets me excited to be an inhabitant of it in 24 days, 2 hours, and 9 minutes

Brick is so expensive though. Stuff like expanding the concourses and improving the bathrooms and concessions are things that needed done. Brick would have been really nice but it doesn't have any functional difference between the asphalt.

Brick (both horizontal and/or vertical) is very expensive and usually is the first item to be deleted if you do not have enough funding. Curb and gutter goes next, then crushed rock replaces asphalt. You get the picture.

Fingers crossed that the funding comes through soon, because it looks like if it does we are lookin at a new and improved Jack for next season.

Just doing some rudimentary investigation, I found a nice Holland paver (8"x4"x1.75") for $0.74 at Lowe's. It takes 4.5 units to cover a square foot, for a total of $3.33 per sq. ft. Now, obviously a distributor would get you a much better deal, but let's use those numbers for argument's sake.

How does that compare to the cost of asphalt at roughly the same thickness? Is it outrageously more? I have no idea, so I would appreciate any input.

I remember in Washington state, I think it cost us around $100 for 3 cubic yards of asphalt, but that was at a discounted price because they were paving the street in front of our house.
