Terrible team, no heart.

Dude, you have to calm down. We lost and are most likely not going to a bowl. Lets look ahead to the future and get the young guys experience. Lets develop an identity and find a consistent offense. Lets get Meyer an O-line so his senior season isn't like Senecas. Lets improve every game and make an effort to get better week after week. Lets find a defense. This season is basically over (baring a miracle) and its time to look to the future and get better no matter who is coaching them.

Now you are really intimidating me with the all caps. You mean mighty Nebraska would have answered no matter what. Look up Kansas game last week. Our defense is horrible but they kept us in the game in the second half. Our offense did score. You need to take a look at the replays before flying off the handle.

There comes a point where 7-5 gets annoying. Changes will be made. It is embarassing when they flash McCarney's record at Iowa State up on the T.V. and its 55-80. Yeah he rebuilt the program but at this rate of 7-5 every year, he will be over .500 in a shade over 12 years. The team is trying, but you can't run a "bend but don't break" defense. What the hell does that mean anyways. Receivers run same routes, Stevie runs through the same 2 holes.

I get it now though. Our facilities are soooo bad, that the refs dressing room was too small, and they had to share a shower. That is what pissed them off into making the calls against us.
That is the connection, better facilities=better officiating.

We did get jobbed by the refs..but Storms comments seem like the same comments a lot of people have been expressing all week leading up to the game. I would love to believe that it is a lack of heart on the fans part of why we lose these games (as some people believe it to be, even though I'm sure everyone like me is screaming and cheering their hearts out every game no matter what the score or who we are playing) but in reality there has to be a reason for it. What it is, I don't have answer for it, and that is why I love this forum. It gives me a chance to try and figure it out. All I know is a pattern has been developing for the last 4 years and I'm getting tired of it.

And another thing, I hope no one actually believes we lost the game because of the refs. Yes, there was some very, very bad calls, and they would've made a difference, but we didn't lose the game because of them.

One other thought, I was on espn.com all day today, and there wasn't one mention or one headline about today's game. I think everyone in here thinks today's game was huge one. Why didn't anyone else in the country think so? Why can't ISU be a team to be contended with? Mediocrity isn't good enough for me. I'd gladly give up a bowl game this year if we can bring in a staff that will bring us to the upper tier.

The state of Iowa really has no business having two BCS conf Dvision 1 programs. If there were two large BCS conf schools in Nebraska, the cornhuskers wouldn't have such a storied past. If you made an ISU/IOWA all star team..the team would be a top tier program year in and year out and likely would challenge for the National title often.

Realizing none of these players are from the state but could you imagine Greenway, Hodge, Dobbins, Sanders, and Billups In the same defensvie backfield?

No one can tell me Alvin Bowen played with no heart, or the rest of the defense in the 2nd half. The fact is Dan lost a very good offensive coordinator several years ago, and the offensive line and the offense in general has never been the same since. It will be hard getting a top notch
offensive coordinater to Ames until Dan hangs it up and we get a good offensive mind as the head coach.

Decision making also keeps us in this game longer, despite the calls.

1) Kick the field goal instead of the fake attempt.
2) I believe we went for it again on a later drive. Kick the field goal
again, and now it's 21-13 and a touchdown and 2 point conversion away from a tie.

Play through the horrible play calling and get out of the situation with some points.

Of course it would help if we had a breakaway threat at running back and this conversation would not be necessary since we would be putting up some touchdowns.

I happened to watch the other team out East, and their #2 running back broke off big runs when he wasn't fumbling. I do not want to hear about Hicks and his blocking. Blocking is coaching and Scales and Johnson should be ready to pick up blitzes by now. Give them some carries

You my friend must be a Cub fan. Its always about next year.

SEE, LOOK AT WHERE WE'RE AT NOW. INTO MAC'S 12TH YEAR, 6 GAMES INTO A 12 GAME SCHEDULE, AND WE HAVE FANS ALREADY CALLING OFF THE SEASON. SHOULD THIS EVEN START TO BE MENTIONED TO BE HAPPENING FOR A COACH'S 12TH YEAR? DO WE REALLY WANT THIS WITH OUR PROGRAM? IT SHOWS WE REALLY HAVE NO DIRECTION AND DIRECTION IS WHAT WE NEED IF THE MIDST OF RENOVATIONS THAT ARE ABSOLUTELY NECCESSARY FOR THE FUTURE OF THIS PROGRAM. RIGHT NOW, I JUST CAN'T SEE A FUTURE WITH THE CURRENT PROGRAM IN PLACE

Dude, lay off the all caps, it's hard to read.

Teams that win in overtime and can respond to being down 16-0 early at Texas do not have a lack of heart. The problem is elsewhere. One interesting development this year is the increase in penalties. Mac teams have almost always been very disciplined when it comes to penalties. We had a huge 5 yard penalty in the first half on Saturday which gave them a first down.

"FAKE FIELD GOAL ON 4TH AND 7, RUNNING UP THE GUT? WHEN NEBRASKA HAS THEIR NORMAL BASE DEFENSE OUT THERE?"

You must not have been watching the game, they were no where near a base defense, the had the block on, one in which they load up the right side of our line. There should have been a alley created, the problem was the lack of a good seal block to create the lane. At the same time I didn't like the call, but it wasn't a horrible one.

The call that really bothered me was the defensive one at the end of the first half. There are 10 seconds on the clock and they have no time outs. So they can not throw the ball in the middle and get the field goal off. They have to either A) throw it in the end zone B) throw to the sidelines (not a good option, one they probably won't take) C) throw an incomplete pass. So what defense do we call, a corner blitz with our best coverage corner, DeAndre. This caused the safeties to have to shift over leaving one on one coverage on the far side and eventually the corner of the end zone. We play bend but don't break coverage 90% of the time but when it makes the most sense to do so we call this. A blitz with a linebacker would have been fine and maybe a very good call.

Dude...you are up here.

We need you down here.

(Just hit the Caps Lock button. It's not so bad once you learn how to use the Shift key.)

Darts, do you just save templates in Word that allows you to copy and paste the same arguments over and over. Or have you created a program that searches the CF boards searching for key words like "Mac", "Facilities", "Players"...or any of ISUFan's posts??? Then it will just insert the same "12 year" comments, the same facilities comments, the same "don't blame the players, it's all the coach's fault" comments, the same "tell me a team we have beaten when we shouldn't have" comment...blah blah blah.

At least you aren't like the guy who is typing in all caps.

Juast for the record, Nebraska brought over eleven offensive linemen to rotate in and out. I think our front four did a good job of fending them off. The longer runs by Cody Glenn were only becauise he dekliberately cutback against the pile. They then scored their fourth touchdown. To hold Nebraska less than 400 yards total odffense was the best to expect. For us to settle for another 320 yards is unbacceptable. Penalties were good for us. Yet turnovers are not our forte this year.

McC must feel a little like Bill Parcells this week: Up a little, down more, wondering what to do.
