Tennesee State Thread

I was looking at probable seeds on friday (at work lol) and Purdue was way down on my list, maybe a 4. They didn't have as many Q1 wins, and their WAB was lower than others.

They got 3 more Q1 wins and jumped their WAB as well in the B1G tourney and got a 2. I was shocked, and the good wins in the BTT are the only possible explanation.
Especially since we’ve been told in previous seasons…..by the Committee….that Conference Tournament games do not hold much weight.

So you think a totally different group of people wouldn’t have a different mindset on how games should be weighted? And you’re calling me naive?
Nope,

It’s not a free-for-all behind closed doors allowing randomness year to year. To think otherwise is naive.

It’s highly manipulated to help achieve the most likely outcomes for The best possible matchups. Strictly for Clicks and Viewership.

They can’t even keep the same “mindset” in the same year.

It’s pure manipulation of the data.

And if it isn’t manipulated,

Let’s be aware of their “mindset” prior to conference games. ….

They can’t because they don’t know what the data will give them in the end.

So how do you explain Purdue at the 2 line if Confrence Tiurney outcomes mean nothing?

Seems like the Big 10 tourney outcomes not only moved Purdue up but Illinois and Michigan St down.

I did say that. That’s the point. It absolutely moved them.

But how did it not move St John’s ?

Have you looked at the metrics? They fall right into where they should. This isn’t some conspiracy.
No I haven’t seen the metrics or mindset this committee used. Please show me.

Because St Johns is 16th in NET which is a 4.

Purdue is 9th which is a 3.

so the conference tournaments do or don’t matter?

The better question is who are we cheering for in Santa Clara/ Kentucky? I've not really seen any of Kentucky but assume they are loaded with blue chip type players. Underachievers relative to talent level I assume as well, which makes them volatile but certainly beatable. I watched 3 of Santa Clara's WCC tournament games and came away impressed at the skill level. Hot enough shooting team to give us fits and beat our aggressive double teams. Remind me of a BYU or Texas Tech but with less talent. I'm never too scared of a WCC team that doesn't have "Gonzaga" on their jersey. I think I'm pulling for SC

Kentucky has so much more talent, but I feel SC plays so well together. I think either way I’m fine with either team. We can likely out talent SC. And I think we can outsmart Kentucky.

It's important to remember in 2014 Ky was an 8 and got to the finals as they crsnked it up a notch to win a bunch of close games.

They have guys, much will depend on if they want to play.

Either way obviously ISU has to win first and foremost.

I agree that they changed the game. But I think it inaccurate to call it a totally different group of people. The chair I believe has been on the Committee for five years. They all serve for longer than a year or two by design so that there is some continuity to the Committee. Different composition, sure - totally different group, not by a long shot. It is my understanding that there is more continutity than difference.

Tennessee State is an excellent free throw shooting team if you send to the line a lot. I saw one game they shot like 36 of 41.
