Tell me about Carroll

Don't speed on 141 between Carroll and Perry, troopers seem to like it out there. I know that about Carroll.

Carroll is west of Ames and even a little bit farther north isn't it? So people consider Ames southern Iowa?

I kind of love how a thread about what Carroll is like has turned into us trying to figure out where it is.

When the majority of the posts mention Ossy's I figure telling people where to find it is a sort of public service announcement.

I thought the rough dividing lines for the quadrants of Iowa were I35 and I80 and Carroll is well north of 80.

Although there isn't much reason to go much further south than that so it's effectively SWI I guess.

I grew up south of Carroll but north of I-80 and was considerd SW Iowa based on the schools and things like the All SW Iowa team (football, basketball, etc...), SW Iowa Honor Marching Band, etc....

Carroll is in Eastern Nebraska

That is no joke considering all the big red N's you see hanging on peoples houses.

If you golf, play softball, or hoops at the rec you will meet people. Do not go to Ossy's. It was great when it was downtown. No more though. As far as bars, The Angry Beaver in the suburb of Maple River is where I usually go when I am back.

The worst hangover I ever had was because of Checkers. I can't remember if it was nickel or quarter draw night on Thursdays. It almost made me quit drinking. Almost.
