Just don't let him on the coach's call-in show and I think he may stay awhile.
I am hoping this as well, or at least give us a chance to keep him when the better opportunities come calling. Honestly I know we aren't a football blueblood but if you get it done here (7-8 wins consistently with a 10 win season here and there) you will be considered a god by this fanbase and we will erect a statue and name something after you.
He definitely had an interview and was on Missouri's short list and I don't doubt he saw Iowa State as a better job than Missouri at this point in time but I haven't heard he had an offer from Missouri, just an interview.
Missouri has problems and they aren't getting better in the near future.
I heard one of the "standing offers" was from Iowa because Hawkeye boosters weren't satisfied with Ferentz's undefeated Big 10 season. They expected him to do better than that...
There's plenty desirable for a young family in Ames Iowa. Don't understand why that is hard for some people to understand. Also fan support is not to be under estimated.
Not sure why we're arguing over what someone else said, but to me it reads as two separate thoughts separated by a period which would usually indicate another sentence or a different train of thought was coming.

This is a true statement
Sentence 2:
Its probably easier to win 10 games at Texas than it is to win 7 at Iowa State.
Also a true statement when thinking about recruiting. I see nowhere in this sentence that says schedule. If he was talking about schedule, then his statement is weak and you are right. I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and think he was not talking about schedules, but other factors when comparing us to Texas.

I get why someone might think this by looking at the schedule on paper but look at last year, that team SHOULD have at the least won 5 games, the KSU and Toledo games were total breakdowns against inferior teams, not to mention we were in 3 others. Far too many people (and players sadly) bought into the CPR idea that this is an impossible place to win. Even if those things are true, there is no reason for a coach to bring up those things other than as an excuse for losing. A competent coaching staff would have had last years team bowling, the talent gap isn't as bad as people make it out be. X's and O's and coaching were the biggest reason the program has struggled the last few years, it's not talent or the schedule.
LOL - Kim Anderson just revealed this month Missouri has been on NCAA sanctions in basketball for 2 years and he wasn't told about it until after he was hired. He was hired because he was one of few people who would have taken the job.
In both football and basketball Missouri went outside to use the outhouse and fell in.
Hence my usage of the phrase "not completely true", but judging by your response to others since this post, it appears you're more interested in having an argument than actually having a discussion.
Not buying this at all, only because it just doesn't work that way. Schools might tell him they want him, they might say all sorts of things, but they won't have a "standing offer" unless they know he will accept it. AD's are super super sensitive about being able to say "the only guy we offered was the one who took the job."
That is picking a nit, as there was a ton of interest in CMC, and that is why JP was smart in jumping in early and fast with him and got the deal done.
So AD offers him a job and he turns it down. AD then goes and hires guy #2 and doesn't tell anyone about guy #1.
What do you call that? That's an offer.

You think CMC had standing P5 offers without even interviewing for the job? I will guarantee you that he didn't have another offer in writing, that just isn't the way these things work.
Call me skeptical of some buddy of your who supposedly talked to some unnamed assistant coach who said he had 3 "standing offers" from other schools. LOL.
I guess I've been offered jobs without it being in writing until I said yes, but maybe that's just me.
