Our school song is now a mayo commercial.Speaking of...
It caused ISU to lose games? Well that is a hell of a take...Late 2000s or early 2010s. Someone decided we needed a silly stolen tradition that would cause us to lose most of the games in which it was played. Lo and behold, Sweet Caroline was born.
.... Ba Ba Ba!!
It was popularized by the Boston Red Sox who started playing it after victories in 1997.ISU fans thinking Sweet Caroline is unique to us is just as cringy as Michigan fans thinking Mr. Brightside is theirs. Both are played at a TON of sporting events and are about as generic "white people gettin turnt" songs as they come.
Our only special song is Juicy Wiggle. Accept it and move on.

It started out as the song played between 3rd and 4th quarters, not the victory song. It's a kumbaya kind of song, and killed the energy in the stadium at the time we needed to ramp it up. Much better as a victory song.It caused ISU to lose games? Well that is a hell of a take...
I agree, really hate it but have just learned to accept it. I think it started somewhere between 2005 and 2011. First I remember it was after the game against #2 OSU. I hadn't attended a game in person since Nebraska in 05 or 06 and don't recall it at that one. Of course, we lost that one with some terrible calls by the officials so possible it was started after victories earlier.Hate this song - Neil Diamond creeping on 11 year-old Caroline Kennedy.
Wasn't arguing that it isn't better as a victory song. I was just challenging the contention that the choice of song between quarters didn't just cause losses, but caused losses in the majority of games in which it was played. If ISU can just find the right 4th Q break pump up song, ISU will never lose again! It started out as the song played between 3rd and 4th quarters, not the victory song. Agree. Seahawks stole the 12th man thing from Texas A&M. And i may have read somewhere that the 12th Man thing actually started at Iowa a long-long time ago, but aTm football popularized it. The Seahawks thing (and Sweet Caroline) shouldn't annoy me but it does.ISU fans thinking Sweet Caroline is unique to us is just as cringy as Michigan fans thinking Mr. Brightside is theirs. I love that song. Don’t think it fits but love it.Fully embrace the entire Neil Diamond catalog. There's gotta be somewhere to squeeze some of Brother Love’s Travelling Salvation Show into the gameday playlist. Replace that Jackie with more cost effective Neil Diamond impersonators a la Saving Silverman.
