Sweet Caroline and bad mojo

Totally agree and have said it for years. Thought the folks in charge finally figured it out, but apparently they still don’t understand.

On gameday, a street performer in San Diego saw my I-State pullover and started playing Sweet Caroline. I only had a twenty so I didn't give him anything. He even said "this is the Cyclone song man!" when I walked by and didn't acknowledge him. I felt bad but I'm not giving a twenty for that. Sorry if this sent bad mojo to the Cyclones.

Come on, man. You can't do that to us. Go into a shop and get some change. Or give him the $20 and come on here to tell the story. We'd get you your money back.

People actually associate sweet caroline with ISU nationally? We stole it from the Red Sox.

Correlation may not be the same as causation. I would like to think that our game-day atmosphere people are out there stealing the best ideas, but they tend to do things like the wheel spinning thing with options such as "Fly Like Cy." Is there any actual evidence that we "stole" it from the Red Sox?

The crew that almost got the game has Robert Smith on it as the back judge. He played at Iowa in the 80s. Imagine the backlash if there were poor calls made by that crew. That being said I know Robert personally and he is a hell of a great guy.

Sounds like kinda pregnant .

That would have created a firestorm in here. I know I would have been angry. Justified or not.

Add me to the list of those that had a bad feeling as soon as that song was played.

Sweet Caroline has its place but it isn't during the game or at the start of the 4th quarter and it sure as hell isn't pregame. Overall I'm getting kind of sick of it being the "Official Cyclone Anthem" or whatever they're calling it now.

I'm sorry to inform you.... but playing Sweet Caroline has absolutely nothing to do with whether ISU wins or loses.

Now uniforms, that's a completely different story. That has EVERYTHING to do with W's and L's. We all know that. We should never see the all white combo again!!! :)

True but I imagine that more people have seen it nationally associated with an ISU celebration vs buried in the middle of an inning during a commercial break at Fenway

This is the new response to someone singing or playing the song before the game is over.
