Hated it, BUT, willing to see what it will like like with our uniform redesigns next season. With the shoulder striped jerseys and ugly gray pants, it combined to form a literal Cyclone of disgusting uniform combos.

I think there's a chance it looks sharp along w/the new unis. I think there's also a chance we look completely MACish with that logo and new unis next season...

I echo the sentiment that this should have been sampled to the market ahead of any sort of release. Much like when the "I-State" was announced, there were at least a couple of other potential options that could have made the cut. This however, felt very pull-the-wool-over-our-eyes to me, and my gut reaction to it was "Oh great, this logo is kind of ugly, but as infrequently as these things change, something I'm stuck with having to look at for the foreseeable future with no say in the matter." Definitely didn't feel great, and has rightfully been met with ridicule.

It has to be scrapped. We can't put that travesty on our jerseys or helmets next season. I have a feeling the people who chose that logo are the same people that pick Jock Jams as the Hilton music. Don't be cheap. Hire a real professional to design it. Or find someone in the well-respected design program. You don't think any of those kids could come up with something amazing? A logo is an afternoon doodle to those weirdos.

Well, as I understand there's not a change coming to the primary logo. If that's the case, it mitigates my reaction to the upside-down-wizard-hat logo (someone else's joke on CF). But I don't think it does much for the Cyclone brand. It seems cartoonish and poorly executed.

The good teams - with good branding - seem to get a (primary) helmet design and stick with it instead of re-branding constantly (think Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, Notre Dame). I hope we stick with our current primary logo and, if we're going to go with a secondary one, that it is something better than this.

Has anyone come up with a name for this logo yet? I tried to create a poll, but apparently that function is disabled for me. So I will simply post my choices here:
The Screwhead logo; The Smoke out the Earhole logo; The Toilet Flush Logo; The Bloody Stool Flush Logo; The Inverted Puke Logo;

Keith Murphy seems to be defending the new logo.

Not all of this heat against the logo can be due to the loss. This logo shows a disconnect. It's bad. ISU wins last night and I would say "Great win! Ugly lid".

Don't care if the national guys like it. It's really bad.

This logo is proof that we are not yet a true business school.
The "marketing people" do not work in the business school, so it clearly shouldn't be a reflection of the business school. And even at universities with "true" business schools, the administration very seldom gets input from their experts that research and teach the subject matter.

I say that we have two different helmet logos, next game. The defense (and defensive coaches) wear the I-State logo because of the great play against Texas. The offense (and offensive coaches) have to wear the alternate logo, but upside down, until they can demonstrate consistency against P-5 schools - then they don't have to wear the red poop emoji logo anymore.

I don't find logo discussions trite. My questions are more behind the philosophy of this move, rather than about the logo itself. Why is this being done now? How is this helping ISU's football identity? To me, nothing in the timing of the reveal or the logo itself are going to do anything positive for ISU's identity. Perhaps this is not the right place for that discussion.
In that case welcome aboard the hate train. To answer your question I'd refer you to the OP where I ask...why?

The timing and impetus make no sense. None. I see no positives.

In a few words...

Willard: They told me that you had gone totally insane, and that your methods were unsound.

Kurtz: Are my methods unsound?

Willard: I don't see any method at all, sir.
