Student Section

As so often stated, via our coach's in particular, "the greatest fanbase, blah, blah blah..."
Not even close, tho it sounds good!

I don't like that any better than the students. But, the students don't have as many good excuses not to show up.

We should have ways to fill EVERY seat in the lower bowl / center of the court and move people "up" when they are dedicated or want better seats and backfill every empty seat with lower priced seat options leading up to the game.

There are creative ways to figure out how to make sure there are no empty seats in the lower bowl and even more creative ways to make sure there are no empty seats in the Coliseum.

With today's technology we should be able to pack the place, reward those that pay for the seats they want to create an opportunity for those willing to upgrade that experience from 201 15th row to 111 row 1.

Kick Ticketmaster the hell out and develop your own AI optimized system to do it. AND KEEP ALL THE MONEY.

Where there is a will there is a way. Make it happen ISU.
are those seats bought by season tickets holders , if so they are already sold and are part of the announced crowd. but saying that if you can't make the game let someone use the tickets

Not a good look for a fanbase that likes to think Hilton is the best home court college. The crowd energy was also lacking, IMHO. Maybe it just doesn't come across well on tv anymore. It used to.

Turned over and watched a few minutes of the Kansas/Utah game. Crowd energy seemed way higher. Watched a few minutes of the Duke/UNC game before the women's game. Crowd was way hotter. And UNC crowds are notorious for being hand-sitters.
Sorry, disagree with you on that. I was there and thought the crowd was loud and into it.

Were you at the UNC Duke game?
Admittedly the "rivals of rivals."

Sorry man, today's Hilton fans are nowhere near the intensity of the Orr to recent Hoiburg past.
Today's Hilton? Moments of crowd explosion, tho plenty of embarrassing pin drop moments.

Hopefully, ALL will show up for Kansas.
I'll be nose-bleed section there, from 1500 miles distant

The athletics department holds a lot of tickets back for overflow and other things.

During the iowa game, after the student section was filled, they found reserved seats for what I would guess is a few hundred seats.

Also,a few empty seats is expected, but there were literally hundreds of seats open.

I wish they would do like KU and have a GA section for the general public for all games, minus KU and Iowa.

I would put money on empty too rows for Houston as well.
Have a lottery for student tickets(limited numbers) and assigned seats like they used to.

I guess I’m not sure what people expect from our crowd. I sit in the lower section and literally couldn’t talk to my wife because of the noise. Any way, love watching games at Hilton. Nothing better!

We're 21 and frickin 2, the place looked like a million bucks sold out and decked out in all white, and sounded great on TV. Is the place gonna be bonkers for 2 solid hours against a middle of the road Baylor team? No. Good grief, people. RELAX AND ENJOY THE RIDE.

Something like 30 years of going to games… I described yesterday as one of the most tame crowds for a Feb Saturday conf game I’ve been to.

Lots of factors I think

1) game time: lots of folks there to eat lunch, people around me spent 1/2 the game using their hands to eat walking tacos and clone cones. Made close to zero game cheering noise

2)phones: the number of people who come to game and scroll Facebook to look a pics of their grandkids shocks me every time.

3) we expected to win: Hilton’s best aspect has been that the fans believe we are needed to win the game. We lacked that urgency yesterday, a product of our own success

4) gameflow: timeouts and stoppages have maybe had the biggest impact. It’s just not possible to get extended runs where the crowd goes nuts. I didn’t think the game was particularly bad yesterday for stoppages, but it’s just a new era for that.

5) Baylor: hit some tuff shots during what could have been some of the loudest moments.

I thought the student noise was NOT the problem, it was everyone else.

Just my observations

FYI: I’m not really mad or complaining about anyone (expect maybe the Facebook scrollers), just what I think are the factors.

It was so quiet before Toure made the the steal and score, I almost yelled out: "Allez les bleus!", but I didn't want everybody to turn around and look at me and miss the basket. :) / sarcasm

Two things: The walking tacos STINK, and I cannot stand to listen to people eat food. They make more noise than you think. Then, the fatties eating a huge bucket of popcorn sound is really annoying. With the exception of a pre-game Clone Cone, food at sporting events should be eliminated altogether! :)
