Student Section

I noticed the students at KU seem to have more prime seats than ISU students. It doesn't excuse the ISU students from bringing it... but I can see why the KU students might be more stoked when they are sitting closer to the floor and not behind the hoops
KU student sections are at the end of the court. They don't have any sections on the sides of the court. Those sections are worth too much.

The student section is certainly a skeleton of its former self but also when I'm watching on TV all I see are people sitting down with their arms crossed. When we score or the other team fouls or something they make noise but otherwise people in the bottom bowl just sit on their butts waiting for stuff to happen.

I get it for the buy games when we're up 30 but when we're struggling the fans gotta stop be so f*ckin lazy.
I don't know what it's like in every section, but when I was back for the OSU game we were in Row-2 of the upper deck along the sideline. The old people next to us were getting cranky because the fans in Row-1 were standing up having a great time cheering during big moments. They literally got into an argument about all of it. And Mr. Oldy had to bring up how much he donates for those seats. I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess the people in the lower bowl are just as much fun to be around.

Wish there was a way to have a section for the old, boring, and families lol. Or a dedicated section for non-student fanatics, like an ultra stand in soccer, just with fewer flares.

Of course there are people who cannot stand up and down many times during the game so I can understand it somewhat. But people getting upset at other fans for standing and cheering are the worst.

Thank you for pointing that out. The tv cameras make it look like they have primo seats. Appreciate your input.

? They all sit behind the hoops. We also used the excuse of the front rows of the student section moving away from the court, but KU also has a big gap between hoop and student section

Agree with Brends rant on two guys. Students need to show up against the non marquee opponents, but whoever is in charge of doing the music breaks at Hilton is not doing the atmosphere any favors

I think a lot of you are VASTLY overrating student attendance in other places.

For every Kansas, Purdue, Duke, etc, you've got 10 Iowas, Utahs, Colorados. etc.

The national averages are way closer to the latters than the formers.

This generation has proven over and over and over that they just don't have the same interest in sports and no matter how much us old dudes ***** and moan on the internet and think about when we were in school, it isn't going to change and, frankly, I don't blame them.
Well yeah, but we're always talking about how great our fanbase is and how elite Hilton is. We're comparing it to the best, not Iowa.

That's a shame. Hilton is for PARTICIPATING. Stand and yell. Forget those old people.

You mean playing We Will Rock You during a high energy moment isn’t good?! :jimlad:

I believe interns are in charge of what music is played during breaks. But yeah, the Hilton one needs to find some new high energy music.

Don't the cheerleaders and the band bring it anymore? When I had season tickets during the Orr years, we were doing cheers during pretty much every timeout, and the band did one of the two fight songs pretty much every time as well. Mix that in with some bass-heavy jock jams, yes, I agree with that. You can do juicy wiggle more than once a game, too. LFG, kill fKU (and TCU, too).

Hard for them to do so when we just blast music over the PA

Better than playing Smoke on the Water last Saturday after we'd started our run...total buzzkill

Holy crap, did they really? Can we mix the pre tip off songs too? They’ve been doing that for 10 years now.
I personally love Booty Bounce and Booyah before tip. The song during the player intros needs to change, it was so much better doing the Hoiburg years. I think the main thing that needs to change is the songs leading the end of the timeout back into play. Just play a jock jam or like enter sandman every time and give the students something to get loud about.

As far as student seating in the 2nd level, it's been since Covid where I've been disappointed in the turnout for the non-ranked conference games. Every conference game should be 99% filled when you're a top-10 program. That's the baseline if you want to call yourself one of the best buildings in the country.

I think the students don't need 5 sections up there. Remove the two on the perimeter I circled in blue and just give them the middle 3.

These are also the worst seats in the house, so it's kinda hard to gripe about people not wanting to sit up there.

But people do fill these sections during the conference break games! And the university makes more money off of those tickets sold than student tickets.
