Storr takes 2nd at UNI open

Gabe didn't place at all and got pinned by Willers of UNI on the front side. No offense to Willers, but a healthy and strong Moreno does not come close to losing to him. Unfortunately I don't think Gabe will be able to get back to the way I know he can wrestle this season as it appears he has a very long ways to go. Hope I'm wrong on that and I feel for the kid because he was never able to put it all together.

Storr is a treat to watch, he wrestles so hard.

Does Storr start the Iowa meet?

I think this is to get a feel for the atmosphere in Iowa City. I would be very surprised it is pulled

I've learned over the years that RedShirts are not something that's emphasized at ISU. My guess is he's going to wrestle on Saturday

More or less surprised than pulling Colbray's up at heavyweight when Harrington is back w/in a couple weeks. Pulling the Storr redshirt against Iowa seems like it would be far less surprising.

IF he pulls Storr's redshirt for this dual then JP needs to hand KJ his pink slip before he is even allowed on the bus returning to Ames...For the record, I really don't think Storr will wrestle and I hope buf is correct. I'm still confused and scratching my head about Colbray.

Other than Meeks (and now "possibly" Colbray this year) I can't think of another RS that has been burned which didn't make sense (to me at least) at the time. Please share some other examples that have helped you "learn over the years" that ISU doesn't "emphasize" redshirting top recruits.

Not that it doesn't make sense but seems like if you do well KJ would rather use you than redshirt you the other example would be Rodriguez who was set to redshirt freshman and sophomore year and it was pulled both years

Dante, John and Colbray.

But I am pretty sure Colbray will get his year back. I think he is injured and won't see him wrestle rest of year

Regardless of whether he gets it back or not (I certainly hope so), it was a head scratcher. I've said it for many years, KJ's handling of lineups, weight management, redshirts, etc. is one of the main reasons I lost faith in his coaching. I would like to know how much input the assistants give in these situations as well. Seems like they would work together to make the best decisions for the team and individuals. There are so many areas of concern in this program and I hope it gets turned around soon (by KJ or someone else)!

I may be a bit conflicted on this one.

On one hand, the obvious ask. Why? Why not have him continue to wrestle in opens and be ready to go next year?

On the other hand, why not? He's been wrestling very well so far. Expose him to a hostile environment in a winnable match. Turk is out, meaning it will be Topher Carton.

I would rather see him redshirt. In my opinion, that is how you build a great program. The more experience in the room, the better.

Carton and Turk seemed like they were about the same level to me last season. Don't think there's much of a drop off for the hawks with carton in(that came off like a pun I know) don't see the need to jump the gun on it. He did it with Meeks and maybe it might've been what damaged his career who knows. Maybe he is ready but I think KJ should wait till mid season to make that decision and see if he can get something out of Meeks/Moreno by then instead of jumping the gun on it like he has in seasons past.
