Starting Lineup Post Halliburton?

And I don't really understand this at all. I had a great junior season (went to state playoffs) in high school football, but I regressed a bit as a senior due to realizing I had other things I needed to concentrate on more, and I didn't have what it takes for collegiate athletics.

I got benched halfway through the season for someone who wanted it more and played better in-game. I completely understood what was happening and was absolutely fine with it, because that's life.

The idea that an individual on a team is "owed" something, when it might actively hurt the team as a whole in the long run is just ridiculous to me.
What has generally gotten people's hackles up is when someone says that underclassman A should play over upperclassman B not because he is better, but because the season is lost and we are playing for the future. That is when an upperclassman is "owed". If he is a better player, he has earned the right to play. That doesn't mean that underclassmen might not get a few more minutes for development, but when people say the seniors shouldn't get another minute simply because "you are playing for the future" you are rightly going to get people disagreeing.

I am making no assertions as to who is better...

Nixon has to play. Tyrese forced Prohm's hand here. I don't think it's bad necessarily, making him a ball dominant PG might be the best thing for him. He won't catch as many passes while standing wide open at the 3 point line if he's going to be asked to facilitate.

This is premised on the idea that 30+ minutes for a guy like Grill is good for his development. I don't think it is. He's not ready to play those kind of minutes against this type of competition, and just throwing him to the wolves doesn't do much for his development.

Hopefully Tyrese spends his time mentoring all of the guards. Every one of them - even the older ones - can learn a lot from him. I have heard that Tyrese has basketball skills and smarts that would make him a great coach after his playing days are over, and I believe it. Hopefully while recovering he gets a chance to get a little taste of it while helping the other guards along.

Jake is owed what he has earned, and he has not earned benching. He may not be contributing at the level he did last year, but mostly he's earned the minutes he's played.

Jacobson has earned being the 3rd option at forward. He’s owed about as much as Merrill holden/Beverly/ any transfer with no impact on ISU’s success. Roll out there with solo and conditt because next year solo, conditt, and foster should all be getting big minutes and prohm needs to learn how to coach a basketball team not just a few guards and telling bigs they need to rebound better.

Serious question...what do folks think about Bolton in this lineup now, after watching the 2nd half of the KState game and the game last night?

He obviously started both the game and the 2nd half. We got down early, he went to the bench, and we clawed back. He came back in, and we went down by 10 again. He went to the bench, and we brought it back to within 1, before the end of half debacle.

Then...the start of the 2nd half. Brutal start. He is taken off again, and while we don’t really bring it back this time, we at least keep it even (actually +1), until he comes back in, when we finally get blown off the court.

It is my observation that the ball just moves better when he isn’t out there. It was, to me, fun to watch parts of the 1st half last night. Really good ball movement for a while. Something we haven’t seen much of, and a bunch of also rans kept the game respectable.
