Starting Mando S3 with little JM tonight. I’ve stayed away from spoilers. Where should my expectations be? Anything I should have watched prior? We watched S1, S2 and BF.

You’re good with S1, 2 and BoB.

This is the way.

Ugghhhh. I'd be lying to say I'm excited to see more of Finn's story. Some of that is due to the poor writing of the character, but also some of it is due to the fact that I find John Boyega to be fairly annoying and arrogant. With all this big universe to explore, is there really any reason to continue to explore the mixed reaction new trilogy characters, when you can instead start fresh with a bunch of new characters, without all the baggage?

This move just wreaks of Kathleen Kennedy and her proven inability to let go of her new trilogy. I mean, just look at how long it has taken to finally let go of her Rian Johnson trilogy. I get it, you love Rian Johnson yourself, and some people really like The Last Jedi just like you. I'm not necessarily one of them, but good on you all. With that said, that doesn't mean it is a good idea to willingly jump back into all that divisiveness. You wanna produce a non-Star Wars movie with your best pal Rian later on when you have moved on from Lucasfilm, sign me up. I'd watch that. He seems to be the only director you can seem to get along with anymore. However, as for Star Wars movies, start fresh and new and maybe we can start to mend the fanbase. Its just stubborn not to at this point. I'm personally hoping this movie just goes by the wayside once Kennedy has moved on here fairly soon.
Take your own advice and let it go. I'm so ****ing tired of seeing this lame-ass Kennedy line of thought. Everything wrong in Star Wars is Kathleen Kennedy's fault, blah, blah, blah. If you aren't interested, then just stfu and don't watch. It's not that ****ing difficult.

You must be new to the forum coming at me that hard calling me a Kathleen Kennedy hater who blames everything on her. Please try to keep stuff constructive. In fact, I love talking through constructive disagreements with me. We've come this far in this forum avoiding toxic posts like this and don't need them now. There is plenty of other forums on the internet filled with posts like yours to go to.

I did check out a few of the Young Jedi animated shorts which were released last week. The full season with full episodes comes out of May the 4th I believe (could be wrong). For those looking for a show that still somewhat caters to adults with some depth, I'm guessing this series isn't for you. Its clearly targeted to around the kindergarten age and not much beyond that. We'll see. Maybe the full episodes will show a little bit more depth. The animation style is also in the vein of typical kindergarten programming. However, what is interesting is this is officially the first thing to come to screen that takes place during the High Republic era, so that alone may make it worth at least checking out.

That’s the vibe I got from the animation only without watching it. I’m excited to show my preschooler to get him interested in Star Wars.

Definitely looks like a good entry point if you have little ones. Looks like something I'll throw on when my nephew comes for a visit.

I've honestly not checked out any of the High Republic stuff. The whole initiative does have the feel of creating the next generation of SW fans as much of the content skews younger. While we've had our eras of OT, Prequel, and Sequel, it's all part of the Skywalker Saga. Outside of the short lived, but soon to be revisited Dawn of the Jedi era, this is the first almost completely new era that has virtually no connection the the Skywalkers.

I got through episode 3 (maybe 4, where they started introducing the doctor). I have no idea what they are doing with that character but I don't like how there's such a long stretch where there is no Mando at all.

I've got both a 3 year old and a Kindergartener which I'm excited to try to watch with them. I'm hoping this might be what gets them both into Star Wars. I have an 8 year old who loves The Mandalorian, but really has no interest in anything else Star Wars.

That episode almost feels shoe horned in as a direct response to Andor: "look, we can be deep and make space politics interesting, too!"

I'm 95% certain that's not the case, but that thought crossed my mind while watching it. I generally appreciate anything the deepens the SW universe and includes normal people, so I didn't hate it from that perspective.

It's gonna take a lot for me to like whatever plot line is associated with the doctor. It most definitely feels forced and weird and not what Mando should be about. Which sucks because I've loved S3 up until this point.

It's a weird episode that honestly doesn't have that much relevance to the season. At least not enough to warrant a whole episode. It is an interesting look at a different part of the Star Wars universe but it felt a little too drawn out IMO. I was expecting more of a payoff from it but it just feels out of place as a full episode looking back on the season. The rest of the season was good imo so keep going!

I feel like they are building for the backstory of how the first order came to be.

Maybe not as strictly important to The Mandalorian, but important to the story that Ahsoka is about to tell?

That's probably fair. Just in review of this season it was weird to have that whole episode in the middle of the season

Has anyone started playing Jedi Suvivor yet? It's the sequel to the Jedi Fallen Order game that came out a few years ago. Really good story-driven single player Star Wars game. Anyways, without being a spoiler, the new game seems like it'll delve into some High Republic backstory.

Or at least the backstory behind The Rise of Skywalker. It feels they're setting up a better explanation of Palpatine's survival. Gotta imagine the necromancer project comment later in the season was based on the doctor's work and this will be used to reanimate Palpatine in future shows and movies.

Why would anyone want to raise Palpatine. I mean, with him getting finished off the first time, sounds like a great opportunity to take charge yourself.

I think in a lot of the books/media that came during the sequel trilogy, there was one that talked about what the empire did right after the second Death Star blew up. And I believe those books discussed that the remnants of the Empire thought that they had a good plan and had it right, but they just needed to do it better. So I would assume bringing Palpatine back would be apart of that if possible.
