Anyone seen a list of theaters that will be playing Return of the Jedi for the 40th Anniversary release? I have used the google machine and am coming up empty.
Which version. The CGI weird one or the original?Anyone seen a list of theaters that will be playing Return of the Jedi for the 40th Anniversary release? I have used the google machine and am coming up empty.

One of the few DVDs I will hold on to forever are my Star Wars Special Editions where they had the late-90s remaster on the first disc but on the Special Features disc you can see the un-altered version of the movie.I believe Lucasfilm basically destroyed all of the old Greedo shot first footage.

I have those too. I think I even have the pre-SE VHS copies somewhere. One of the few DVDs I will hold on to forever are my Star Wars Special Editions where they had the late-90s remaster on the first disc but on the Special Features disc you can see the un-altered version of the movie.
I picked up this set some years back. Got a free player way back and these are the only LDs I own.![]()

You know, I liked some of the original Special Editions updates. The graphical cleanups were nice and making Cloud City look more open was cool. The Greedo now shooting was stupid, but whatever. However adding "Jedi Rocks" to RotJ was where I just about lost it.
Outside of the the matte painting of the Falcon in the background of the prep scene right before heading off to Endor, there is almost nothing in RotJ I would have even touched beyond cleaning up any fuzziness. The effects still look good compared to a lot of things today.Agree it's a mixed bag. I could have selected half the changes and just rolled with it. The other thing is the digital effects in LOTR just a few years later made most of it look far more dated than the original traditional effects. Original band looks way more real than the new fake band, then the fake band goes and breaks the 4th wall visually.
Cloud city is the most objective "improvement", even as a kid in the late 80s with my VHS copies I thought Cloud City was the part of where I could tell a lot of it was paintings and small sets. ROTJ really didn't need any edits, it's one of the most perfect traditional effects movies of all time. ROTJ should have just been a modern film restoration no different than Lawrence of Arabia or something. The Jabba scene should have just been left in the extras without the CG Jabba.
It’s funny how the older tech still brings so much joy.Even though those are the oldest widescreen releases, I find the picture quality to actually be my favorite. The sound is supposedly not as good pre THX but I'm no audiophile and they all sound identical to me. Plus coolest cover art.
The big box set I keep just as a collector but it's the CAV 30 minute per side format that has incredible forward/pause/reverse that not streaming and 4k could never do but after the original wow factor I never use it and not worth the disc flipping.
If I actually watch them it's this set or the faces set.
With the recently announced New Jedi Order movie, there's always a chance he comes back there, assuming he survives past the Mando-verse stuff.
The episode was called Spies. They've been pretty intentional on their word choices this season in the titles. That would indicate more than one.
As far as the possible Mando spy, three possible candidates: Axe Wolves, The Armorer, or the surface survivors.
The similarity of The Armorer's and Gideon's armor, her abrupt change in attitude toward Bo on Nevarro and now being gung ho to get them to go to Mandalore, and taking off before the battle makes her suspicious.
Axe Wolves going to get "help" during the battle makes little sense as who was he going to get help from? The only ship they landed with (one of those dumb tactical points things that I previously mentioned) left the surface and you supposedly cannot contact space from the ground. Plus pretty sure all of the away team was already there. Still probably hates Bo after losing command, but not sure when he had time before this to get on Gideon's payroll.
The survivors conveniently know about the forge, but not the secret Imperial base just 10 feet away? Seems suspect They are easiest to believe, but nothing they did outside of bringing the away team to the forge faster really screams spies. Then again, they level of subtlety of this series is sometimes lacking.
I think it’s Axe. They found beskar on the ship Gideon was broken out of. So there’s gotta be some mandalorian working with him.
Oh ****, very true. How did I overlook that aspect.I was just assuming that was just beskar from his troopers
Was listening to the IGN interview. Jon and Dave are going to bring the New Republic stories together in the movie Dave is going to direct.
