Star Wars Expanded Universe Thread

I'm calling Qui-Gon shows up as a force ghost in a post credit scene.

That was probably the best lightsaber dual in all star wars.

Honestly I think people are overblowing it. It was a great dual because it was outstanding as a "Vader just owns somebody" way. But that wasn't even JV vs. Varsity. Reva just got absolutely clapped there.

I haven't posted much until now about Obi-Wan, frankly because I've been so disappointed so far in what we have been getting, and I find myself much more prefer to post about things I love than things I don't. With that said, I found myself quite enjoying this past episode of Obi-Wan finally. It still definitely has its flaws, but I found that everyone was at their best we've seen them so far this series, including Reva, Ewan, Vader and all the writers and directors on the series. While it wasn't enough to fully turn my opinion around on this series as a whole, I will say I'm at least now moving in the right direction. In fact, I didn't watch this episodes until this past weekend simply because I had near zero desire to watch it and just be disappointed again. That says a lot for my #1 anticipated series by far of 2022. At least now I'm excited again to see what is next, which is all I really want.

If people wonder how users of the dark side of the force can still be alive after getting hit with a light saber or survive worse, I recommend you listen or read the book Darth Plagueis.

If there is any spinoff from this series, it better be Darth Vader going around the galaxy ripping ships apart and slaughtering jedi we never heard of. Maybe sneak Dr Aphra into it.

No more shoe horning little kids into it.

I would love a "What If...?" Star Wars series that included an episode exploring the Darth Jar-Jar theory.
There was a pretty like well fleshed out rumor that that was the way they were going with him but there were some like pretty uncomfortable elements to it that maybe would have been okay in 2000 but less so in 2022. Not to cave it but you can look it up and make your own judgements

I thought that was all but confirmed. The reveal of Darth Jar-Jar was supposed to be the "I am your father" moment of the prequel series but instead of a loveable character like Lucas thought he would be, everyone hated Jar-Jar. They pivoted in episodes 2 and 3 and introduced Count Dooku and General Grievous.

There is a reason his role in episodes 2 and 3 were extremely limited versus episode 1.

So I thoroughly enjoyed this final episode. Avoided the stuff I thought would be bad and gave me the stuff I wanted.

That said, this should have been a movie with a movie budget and it should have been mostly about Vader and Kenobi. I think you can tell the other stuff that got added was just to flesh out a series and it wasn't the strongest stuff about the show.

Probably because everyone hated the character. That's it. Nothing to do with some turn he was supposed to take. I don't buy the theory at all, and there hasn't been any confirmation of it. Just some quotes from Lucas taken out of context.

Overall I really like Obi Wan as a whole. Episode 1 was a nice intro to what's been happening and 5 and 6 were absolutely awesome. The middle episodes were ok, and I didn't love or hate them.
Might be a hot take or viewed as such, but I honestly thought the duel between Kenobi and Vader in Episode 6 was far superior to the one in Revenge of the Sith. Not as much flash and show just because they had the technology to do so. Plus the way it was shot was pretty awesome imo.

I love the theory I know of, but it's pretty clear that it came from feverish fan imaginations or people just screwing around and putting something together.

To your first comment - You're right, I didn't hate the middle stuff but this thing could have been episodes 1, 5, 6 and that's 2 hours and made into a movie on a movie budget and then the special effects could have been really great.

Agree completely. My youngest has been watching Star Wars as basically the only stuff he is consuming. Let me say I've watched that scene probably 10-20 times in the last few months. The Prequels did this weird thing where they would zoom in on people's faces during lightsaber fights and you literally can't tell what's happening. Also the CGI was great at the time but it's clearly shot in front of a green screen now especially once the lava gets into it. This one looks way more tactile and they incorporated a lot more force push/pull and stuff like that.

The same slashed helmet like Ahsoka does too.

Last 2 episodes were great. Would have loved to see it as a movie with 1,5,6 as others mentioned but I’m just glad we’re getting some good content. The movies don’t do Vader and his power justice.
