Being a huge Star Wars fanboy I went into BoB wanting to love it. It was pretty meh for me. Of course I'll keep watching, but it was a rough start I thought. I think I'm going to have a hard time with this whole "honorable rogue" character arc they have him on. I feel like there are a lot of inconsistentlcies with the character overall.
I watched it with my 7 year old who absolutely loves the Madalorian. He was greatly entertained by BOBF episode 1, and I enjoyed it a lot more because of that, I think. Not the best thing I've ever seen, but easy enough to be entertained by.

It was fun. Lighten up.

If you are looking for edgy and dark you probably should have blocked Lucas from selling to Disney in the first place. It is just a nostalgia cash machine now.

I don't know if this was aimed at me, but I don’t think it needs to be edgy and dark. In fact, another thing I felt was missing from the first episide was that trademark Star Wars humor. There were a few moments here and there, but the show needs a character to provide a little levity. Felt that was missing as well.

I don’t get this anti Disney thing. Disney has more than been willing to allow creative control with Marvel and Star Wars. There has been plenty of dark and edgy in both realms. They haven’t been shying away from language, violence, brooding, and anything else people said they would block.

(Mild-Spoilery Review) Saw Book of Boba Fett Ep1 last night and found it to be alright enough I guess, but nothing to write home about. For a Boba Fett series directed by Rodriguez in episode 1, the same director who directed Fett's action packed episode in The Mandalorian S2, I kind of found the one big action scene to be underwhelming. For one, why was both Fett and Shand unarmed with blasters going into Mos Espa anyway? Also, when they were blocked into that circle, I kept screaming at my TV "DUDE, use your frickin jet pack!!!!!". The choreography of how it played out just didn't make much sense at all, and the Fett we saw in Mando S2 would have wasted all those dudes in a second in my mind. Anyway, maybe it has something to do with Fett's seeming health issues or whatever. Anyway, its not that big of a deal and I can forgive the nonsensical action for a single episode. It is what it is. I will say I did love finally seeing the Gamorrean Guards finally get their chance to kick some butt and not just be some fat pigs in the corner. The return of the torture droid 8B8 and the Max Rebo band from Return of the Jedi was pretty cool too. So anyway, did I love the episode? Not exactly, but I guess it was good enough. Good enough to be intrigued by where we go from here.

That scene (fight scene with the lazer-shields), my 13 -YO son yelled, "USE YOUR JET-PACK!!!!" :)

Anyhow, other than that one scene, I liked it. A little slow, but left me with a "it's over? I want more!" feeling. Which I imagine is what they want.

In the original book, "Tales from Jabba's Palace" (or may have been Tales of the Bounty Hunters?) which I read in the 90's, the story was that Boba got out of the Sarlaac by putting a bomb under himself and blowing it up, which blew him up and out of the pit, but nearly killed him.

Was hoping for that. Guess not.

It was pretty ambiguous how he got out.

Pretty bad fight scene. Boba Fett is apparently not ruthless, dangerous, or interesting at this point.

I'm intrigued. I thought it was a solid start. I am guessing he didn't use his jet pack because he didn't want to leave Fennec exposed. I didn't think that was that weird.

I read that a long time ago. Wasn't there some kind of telepathic link with all the Sarlacc victims in that story too? Kind of like the Sarlacc assimilated it's victims personalities? I definitely remember him "talking" with the Sarlacc telepathically.

I mean the episode started and ended with him in a bacta tank. I think he's old and beaten at this point.

Technically, he's like 45-50 yo. Beaten yes, but not old per se. Although, I think they'll use him being a clone and his time in the sarlaac pit to explain why he appears older than he should be since Temura is 61.
