Have really enjoyed SNW so far. Its not uber angsty, the characters dont all hate each other, doesnt take itself too seriously. Its fun, and plays in Roddenberrys optimistic world of "the better future we can choose to have".

All of this, plus the smokeshow that is Nurse Chapel.

Finishing Picard S2 right now and all caught up on Discovery. I'm super stoked to move onto Strange New Worlds next, especially after hearing you guys talk about it. All I know is I LOVED Anson Mount in the role of Christopher Pike when he was introduced into the role on Discovery. In fact, any time he was on the screen in that show was the best part of that season.

We're really enjoying SNW so far. I have to continually force myself to mentally let go of them treading ever closer to (potentially) messing with canon from TOS. I'm not super into Ethan Peck playing Spock, but the idea is growing on me a bit.

I absolutely love him as a young Spock. The best since Nimoy. He’s outstanding.

As is Mount. But truthfully the whole cast has been on point.

Which, speaking of, I love how they've taken time to let us get to know this crew. I feel like I know more about these crew members than I did about most of the crew after 3 seasons of discovery.

Spot on. Another thing I love is the space cinematography, for lack of a better word. The others new series are like the Abrams movies where things happen so fast with lots of quick cuts. It makes it both hard to follow action scenes, and we don’t get many nice lingering ship and space visual shots. “Ship Porn” is back.

How are the three star trek cartoons: the animated series, lower decks, and prodigy?

Lower decks is funny and has a bunch of references to 90s-era trek (mostly TNG) if you like that kind of thing.

Prodigy is targeted more at younger ages (its also being aired on Nickelodeon) but still fairly enjoyable. Holo-janeway is in it.

I couldnt tell you about TAS as i've never watched it.

Smokeshow is an understatement. Not to mention Spock's fiance. Wow. IMO hottest two women in a sci-fi show since Tricia Helfer in BSG...who remains unchallenged and undefeated.

The rest of it was the *****. I want to throw things at the TV whenever Wesley is on and now he's ....well I won't go spoiler.

But that season 2 was horrible from a timeline perspective and the way it wrapped up. Uninspired television
Ive always been on Team Shut Up Wesley, but for some reason I cant explain, i was absolutely delighted with that little scene.

The overall storyline of the show though... yeah it was meh. Felt more like they had some neat ideas around different characters, and tried to knit them together into a coherent story but it didnt really work.

Picard S2 premier episode was great and I was super excited, only to have it go completely off the rails in each subsequent episode. It was brutal trying to get through the rest of the series, and I almost gave up. The S2 finale episode did just enough for me to be interested in S3 and I'm glad they ending the series there.

If you haven't watched Strange New Worlds then you are missing out. Each episode was fantastic and unique: there was an episode that leaned into comedy, another that was horror, another dramatic. There are some story archs that carry over across episodes, but each episode could stand-alone on it's own. Another thing the series nailed was introducing the crew of the Enterprise, something that Discovery was not able to do very well. I can't wait for S2.

I was so-so on both season of Picard. Can't wait to watch SNW, but it is a bit far back on my watch list right now.

I need some advice here. I just got Paramount+ and looking to dive into the new Star Trek shows. Where do I start? Last night I started with Lower Decks because I've been intrigued for some time. I got half-way through the first episode and I shut it off (please tell me it gets better). That's the only one I've seen.
