Staiger

Sullivan had to be damn close.

If I read the stats correctly, Jake had 1316 total FG atttempts in his career at ISU. Of those, 637 (270 made, 1st all-time ISU) or ~48% were 3's. Thus, he isn't close to Lucca. Player's roles change from year to year. Jake's role his first year was quite different as primarily a spot up shooter compared to later when he handled point duties for awhile. Lucca's role will likely change too if Brackins isn't here in the middle.

You should just speak with him somehow someway and see what the Germany's equivalent is to a jager-bomb and then call it the staiger-bomb! You know some bar would do it I'm sure...have like a staiger-bomb special on ISU days where they are like half price during game time for away games and like a quarter off for each three he makes that night if its a home game!

Jagermeister is German.
call it a jagerbombe

This guy almost has the ability to single-handedly reinvent Hilton Magic. The place when insane when he hit that big 3 right around the 5 minute mark and wasn't quiet after that. Before that point, the crowd was good - but not great.

Love this kid - his heart, ability and the fact that he chose us and then chose to stay here. Many props to you Lucca. I can't wait until the surrounding cast gets better and Lucca is sinking dagger after dagger during home games against teams like KU and Texas - bleeding them to death.

That file is from the 06-07 season. Look at the bottom of the pages. Also where are all of the Staiger haters now that we saw a week ago or so? Hope you guys are realizing he is a huge part of our success this season.

Interesting. It seems like he is one of the few people who CAN drive to the hoop, and McDermott doesn't want him doing that? I don't understand that. He has shown us that he CAN do it somewhat regularly, and I also wish he would take it all the way a few times just to prove it. We NEED guys that can drive it to the hoop. It adds another threat to your offense.

See I think Lucca needs to work on his ballhandling. I personally overrated his ability there based on what I saw two summers ago. He needs to improve on that before he can become a viable driving threat.

Jake was deadly with a mid-range pull up jumper. He didn't have the ability to take it all the way to the hoop. What he often did, however, was to ball fake on a guy who was closing out on him too fast. He would get by the guy with one or two dribbles and knock down a number of 12-15 footers every game. He was one of the best at that to ever play in Hilton.

Lets keep in mind how great DW was. He did his damage in two seasons.
i remember. but still lucca with 3 season should pass him easily. DW had is 2nd in made threes (190), first in made threes for 1 season(102), first in threes attempted in one season (261) and first in 3's made per game (3.78)

"You do more ballhandling in one day than Larry Bird did in an entire season."

Sullivan was good in many ways... great in many ways. But based on Lucca's short career (which could be miss-leading and deteriorate) he appears to have the potential to be a much better overall D1 player than Sullivan. His size, strength, and defense are the most obvious advantages that I see so far in the couple games I have seen. This is not a bash on Sullivan. Sullivan was a very good to great player (and person) at ISU.
