the uni dome isn't really artificial turf as its more padded carpet, or what the barnstormers use at wells. Ill vote to keeping even a ****** natural grass field then ever having to play on carpet. At least this was from playing in semi finals for HS back in 2011, so they may have updated since then to actual astro turf at the dome since?

Speaking as an old guy the term "AstroTurf" is exactly what the UNI dome has and it is as artificial turf as artificial turf gets. I don't care what is currently sold under that name it is, and always will be, the carpet on asphalt type of turf that was invented and put in the Astrodome back in the 60's when it opened. OK, I'm done ranting you all can get back on my lawn now.

It's better since then, but it isn't field turf. It's some mix of the the old astroturf and and field turf. Son said you had to watch for the seams because you could catch them and get tripped up.

How about new FieldTurf ? The grass looks amazing in September, yet declines in October and looks horrendous in November---and the playing conditions are awful.

Iowa can drop $500K replacing their 2-yr old stuff- at the drop of a hat.

We're afraid to offend our agronomy/turf management folks. Good lord. We almost lost to Drake because of our crappy field ion Dec 1 2018.
The best thing for the turf will be to water it well with Hok blood in September. It makes great fertilizer.
