If any (well, three) of these were originally designed/built by ISU engineers, that might not have been a totally bad idea.
Got any more spots around campus for one?
What’s the point? Maybe I’m old school but as long as I can get into the stadium in a timely fashion, I’m cool. I’ve been going since the 90’s and success brings changes but I won’t say that they are always good. Nothing bad so far but I do miss the old days of the successful Mac years. Point being is that we are known for awesome tailgating and I see that diminishing with this “vision” of Pollard. I recall tailgating on Beach for $10 and having a blast Or being a student and tailgating where Reiman gardens is now. It was great not crossing the street. Now RV lots are across the street, they donate $$$$ and are walking further.
Its the price of progress. Our tailgating scene will still be second to none. People adapt. I say this as someone who lost a great tailgating spot to the SEZ being built.
Some of the ******** about this is ridiculous. We have a commodity that a lot of other schools don't have, valuable property right around the stadium. We are in a position where we have to maximize every advantage we have. Sorry if that means we have to sacrifice some tailgating space around the stadium and people have to walk an extra couple of minutes to get to the game. Life's pretty tough sometimes.
Think of it like this, the people who would be at a tailgate probably won't be the ones sitting in bdubbs / wingstop / Cy's / jethros / whatever in the Pollard & Light, and having that pedestrian party area (serving alcohol) is probably a net positive to the whole atmosphere
Agree, and most of the spots lost look to be non donors. They added spots north of scheman so they are making up for some.
If they only would have built a giant ass bridge to cross the street directly into the stadium to help ease the transition of the RV people to the new area.

Noticed they also added black fencing stretching along the whole length of the ditch along University, so definitely funneling people vs the old "frogger" crossing approach
I'm not a seasoned tailgater. In fact, in school I sold the parking tickets. But, I'd imagine the benefit of having electrical hookup, water, data (are there Cat hookups?), sewage hookup, and overnight stay would offset those chagrins.

There are some people that could be given a free helicopter ride delivering them into the stadium at mid field and would still find a reason to piss and moan.
Gonna need the Rock to take me down on a rope to my seat like some San Andreas rescue.

I'd like to buy that Black Hawk bridge. That'd look good going from my pond shore to the island in the pond.
I would guess the cost of purchase is dwarfed by the cost of transport.
Come to think of it, what the hell do you do with a purchased bridge? Surely something that old can't be disassembled and reassembled, can it?
Problem there though. I think there are very few women (and probably some men) that would rather watch an Iowa State than cling on tightly to the Rock.
