Spain Trip

With a 7' plus wing span and his ability to run like a deer the NBA will find a spot for him.

McKay isn't Ejim or Niang or even Kane in terms of iffy draft measurables. If he doesn't make it, it won't be because of his height, size, wingspan or athleticism. I think he has a solid shot at it.

Agreed. I don't think there are any concerns about McKay physically for the NBA. If he can show an improved & expanded offensive game this year I think he's an NBA player.

of course McKay is an NBA player. Just wait until all that kid has to worry about is his body and his game. He's gonna be awesome.

Did the Cyclones play their final game a day early (today) like the played their first game with Barcelona? If not what time do they play Wednesday?

He's iffy because he's a few inches shorter than the league would like, he has a small frame so it's going to be hard to pack on much more weight, and he has a limited offensive game. The game he can work on, the rest he can't. Maybe he catches on at the end of a roster like a lot of our former players have tried to. I just think that many are setting themselves up for disappointment if they think he's a sure fire nba player. The mock draft I looked at had no McKay in either the first or second rounds. No Niang or Morris either. Imo all three are going to have a tough time making a roster right out of college.

Agreed, he really needs to show a jumper to have a shot in the league. If you're a big guy in the NBA right now, you need to be able to protect the rim or be able to space the floor. McKay hasn't shown the ability to knock down jumpers yet and I don't think he has the size to get minutes on his defense alone. But he still has another year, so maybe he shows a much more well rounded offensive game this year.

That's the sh**s.

Hope they feel better soon.

This is all I'm saying. If he doesn't make the NBA it's not because they hate his measurable features. It's much more likely the draft combine boosts his status than hurts it. They'll rate him as a PF, his wingspan is going to be above average even among the NBA combine, his vert, sprints and shuttle run are probably going to crush many of the other PF prospects.

He's not Ejim, Niang or Kane where they will look at his physical potential and balk. It's the opposite, they will love a 7' wingspan pogo stick jumper PF. Like you say they will want him to show a better jumper (which it seems he's been working on), add bulk (which it seems he's been working on), and more defensive consistency outside of just shot blocking.

He was showing rapid improvement in the 60% of the season he was allowed to play. He could barely make a free throw in in his first few games and had become somewhat reliable at the stripe by the end of the year. I'm not saying we should all expect him to make the NBA, I'm saying he doesn't have physical barriers to being an NBA player which is true. If they need players with Jameel's wingspan and leaping ability to still have one more inch you could probably remove about half of of NBA PFs from the league.

Agreed. A lot of people don't understand just how unbelievably hard it is to get to and play in the NBA. It's a league full of bench warmers who were lottery picks. It's just really hard.

Of anybody, I think Morris has the best chance of being drafted from this year's team, assuming he has at least as good a year as he had last year, or even improves. Right now I think he's being overlooked for whatever reason, but come the end of the year it'll be clear (again, assuming a good year and he isn't injured) he'll be declaring and he'll get a better look. The league will like his ball handling and passing skills, and the fact that he's young for his grade.

I wish the absolute best for Niang, but I'm not sure there is any way at all he gets drafted. I would be ecstatic if he gets picked up, though.

McKay is fun to watch and a good college player, but based on last year, IMO he is in no way an NBA player.

That's gonna make for a long plane ride home.

I can't imagine the plane ride alone for Jameel is much fun. Then, having to sit down on an airplane toilet because of the candy apple splatters?? Can't image the horror.

Hope he's been keeping up with his yoga.
