This part stood out to me:

He (Blake Buchanan) is a big body at 6' 11" that plays hard and is a pretty effective finisher around the rim, though he won’t provide the same post scoring boost Dishon Jackson brought

I would put a lot of money on Buchanan scoring as much or more than Dishon did (7ppg in conference play- Buchanan averaged 5.4ppg last year for Virginia). I think he's going to play more than Dishon did too.

If he doesn’t fumble half of the passes thrown to him in the lane like Jackson did he might average 10 ppg. Catch it and dunk it young man!

FWIW, the old SI gave the ACC tongue baths for years; they also thought the only basketball teams west of the Mississippi River were fKU and UCLA. The 21st century SI though is an afterthought, literally no one reads or follows that rag nowadays. I think it’s even online-only, yeah? Pfft.

Can’t agree more, he will also be able to switch on defense as well. Liked the big dawg, but he was just too slow to play how we want a guy to play defensively

I'm fine with a 25 rating, let the season play out. I have no reason to believe that TJ won't have us in a good spot come March and we get to watch another fun season of BB in Hilton.
Disagree. We should and will be ranked higher than that. And we deserve to be. Starting higher is always better than not, I’ve never and will never understand some attitudes about this or even the id rather be unranked takes I see far too frequently on here.

Losing the anonymity of irrelevance is not to be mourned!

Yeah, SI is not longer SI, but I find this statement pretty accurate:

"The three key pieces Iowa State retained give them the necessary nucleus to compete for another protected seed in the NCAA tournament though, and if Nelson and Buchanan hit, this ranking could look far too low in retrospect"

Sports Illustrated is a shell of itself. They have AI writing and generating most of their articles. They could have Iowa state missing the tournament and I wouldn’t blink twice since AI likely can’t distinguish Iowa and Iowa State
Absolutely. So much AI, too much AI. It feels like we’re only a couple of years from being on that spaceship from Wall-E with robots and AI taking care of everything.
