Simeon Carter commits

Thoughts on how Carter and Ernst compare? 247 has them rated as about the same.

Well for starters, Ernst isn't cleared to play with an injury and from posters on this board, Carter isn't cleared to play until Clearinghouse. Do I have my facts straight?

Tough to say but Carter had a much better offer list. It could just be that because of the lack of competition in Iowa HS's it's really hard to evaluate some of these Iowa kids.

I mean how do you tell if a guy from Dubuque or Spirit Lake is any good if they mostly play a bunch of stiff 6'3" centers which is the norm in Iowa HS b-ball

Kind of feels like our depth at shooting guard. Between all the issues, someone gotta come out as solid.

It's pretty hard to get on an AAU squad from small town Iowa because those teams generally don't take small school kids very seriously. I just don't think it's a decision a kid and his family can just make. Besides, you are pretty far removed location-wise.

It's not that hard to get on an AAU team, even from 1A schools.

That wasn't the case with Ernst or Kreiger but it still cuts down on the opportunity to evaluate a player if most the HS film is against low level competition

If you pay the money, you'll be on an AAU team

I don't think you really understand AAU basketball, no offense

It's not hard at all.

2nded... I played on an AAU team when I was in 8th grade... literally just grabbed a bunch of friends, and formed a team, with one of our dads as coach... and to put it lightly we got our a**es handed to us quite a bit. Might be harder to make a well known team, but they do have this thing called "tryouts".
