Not sure about code, but the big thing is a large unit has to have support from the top or it puts a lot of stress on the pipe coming out of the wall. They are easier to install before you put the shower wall in place to make sure that you have enough support to hold up the shower head, or attach it to the shower studs at the top.Is that a big city thing where you can't do it yourself because of building codes or something?
If not, Lowe's says it's a DYI.
